Councilmembers like @CD6LosAngeles are the reason why the rent’s so high in LA. Bragging about building less housing and increasing parking spaces is basically how LA has run its land use policy for 40 years. And it proves why @Scott_Wiener’s SB-79 is sorely needed.
Here’s @CD6LosAngeles bragging about reducing the size of a 100% affordable housing project and increasing the amount of parking at the project while arguing against SB 79. (ED 1 is an affordable housing program in LA.)

We had a robust conversation with @JohnEricksonWH last night. Topics included Fountain Ave, how to build things faster in California, the K Line Northern Extension, Micromibility, and how to make PCH safer in our lifetimes. Thanks for the time, John!.

Hey look at our NIMBY mayor being a NIMBY.(LA is at a 7 year low for housing permitting).
Today I signed a City Council resolution opposing SB79 unless it is amended to exempt cities with a state-approved and compliant Housing Element. While I support the intent to accelerate housing development statewide, as written, this bill risks unintended consequences for LA.

We are disappointed in LA City Council’s vote to oppose SB-79. Given the worsening housing and climate crises, Angelenos deserve better. Thank you to all the City Councilmembers who supported this bill, as well as our co-sponsors @InnerCityLaw @AbundantHousing

Bravo @JohnEricksonWH . “Across our state, commonsense projects that would make communities safer, greener, and more livable are caught in an endless tangle of redundant approvals, over-engineered reviews, and bureaucratic inertia.”.
