New review in @AnnualReviews with @MattGolub_Neuro @SussilloDavid @shenoystanford. We describe Computation Through Neural Population Dynamics (CTD) framework. We explore what we do and do not mean by CTD, and how it can be applied to experimental data. 1/4.

Check out @shantinix’s awesome work that she put a lot of hard effort into! I’m sadly not in the experimental group but perhaps some of you are!.
And…it’s live (for a limited experimental group!). I worked with an amazing group of people on this and I’m so excited for you to try it out!! 💜.

💯. It’s super apparent when I train a naive NHP vs one that’s done tasks. The strategies initially explored are seemingly very different. As our field moves towards more complex tasks (where different strategies are equally viable!), tracking training history might be required.
This paper has really got me thinking about motor learning. In particular, about how folks like me using animal models to study sensorimotor learning need to design and report on our experiments very carefully! (1/n).
