@spurtmagoo
Really? Couldn't even pull off "From the River to the Sea Salt & Caramel" for that "joke"? That's, like, the easiest joke in the world if you want to criticize it, and for people who got butthurt by B&J it sends the exact same message.

As long as they don't explicitly say "we are firing you because you want to unionize," it's also legal to fire someone who is organizing. Literally all they have to do is say it's another reason and the employee usually has no recourse.
@herosnvrdie69
There are likely thousands of cultures, religions, and languages we don't know about just because of the British empire, not to mention other imperial and capitalist powers
@memeguider
Social democracy is a framework of capitalism, and imperialism is literally part of capitalism.
So yes, social democracy, at a certain point, requires one form or another of imperialism to survive.
@ProudSocialist
@DemSocialists
DSA member here, and that's actually a point of debate depending on the chapter you're in. The prevailing opinion is the "dirty break," meaning we use the Dem ballot line for now until there's infrastructure for a demsoc party. I favor the clean break, meaning just leave now.

Most likely because his was the concurring opinion that said we should lose gay marriage, contraceptives, and legal gay relationships next

I've been convinced since the soy milk tweet storm.

Plot twist: on the rewatch her current boyfriend isn't even that bad, he's just upset that she's considering leaving him over some guy who's lowkey stalking her around her hometown.
Also they're really counting on you not watching it more than once.
26.26% reporting, and Bernie's holding steady between 28 and 29%. This is shaping up to be an incredibly good night for him.

Sorry to the

that he couldn't hang in there. He brought a lot to the conversation and I appreciate him for it.
I don't think anyone plans on becoming a socialist or a Marxist. It happens because the nature of the state and the system it props up becomes impossible to ignore, and all we can do is welcome our fellow comrades to the struggle as they arrive. Solidarity every day, Ryan.
I never planned on becoming a socialist, but when I finally woke up to the stark reality that capitalism is an unsustainable economic system that is destroying humanity and our planet too it was the most rational option left.
@robby_weidemann
I mean sure, he didn't want a huge name playing Luke, but that was about it. Star Wars has never really shied away from established names.
If there's one area where
#Andor
seriously falls short, it's in analyzing the human impact of colonization and imperialism. Yes there's a lot of good material on it (Aldhani, Ferrix), but Kenari and the impact of Cass's abduction and forced assimilation is pretty much ignored.
@prageru
Personal property is 100% fine. Private property, meaning the means of production, should be controlled democratically by the workers. In other words, a TV, a computer, and a phone are personal property; the Starbucks down the street from me is private property.
@OvileeMay
@TravisGafford
You've been a big reason I still love watching LCS every week, even if the overall culture has cost a lot of my interest. I ended up voting "stayed the same." I'm going to miss seeing you on the broadcasts, but I hope everything goes super for you!

Qui-gon died from a wound in basically the same spot. Yes you're correct, but there is a history of gut stabs being fatal
@GalacticaDrama1
I think the only reasonable comeback on Sabine is that this type of survivability is most common with Dark Side users, but even then there's a very easy argument from "Sabine wasn't stabbed anywhere critical in comparison to Qui-Gon."

That's literally the result of leaving anyone uninsured. If you brag about 97% coverage you're tacitly okay with saying "fuck that other 3%." Sorry if that's uncomfortable to you.

Palestinians fighting Israel are being condemned by people telling them to protest the occupation peacefully. Many of these same people also routinely condemn peaceful forms of protest such as boycotts of Israeli commodities, calling such boycotts antisemitic.

Not to mention the existence of Will & Grace, which premiered the year after the first HP book was published. It's not like the LGBTQ+ community had no representation at all back then (not great representation, but that show was a huge step forward).
@bearfg10k
@MaceAhWindu
There is literally a series of videos by the same guy released in the months before and after TFA released that completely rewrote the prequels in order to "make them good."
His concept for the trilogy was really interesting, but let's not pretend there wasn't a push for this.
Headcanon: In a lost dialect of Galactic Basic, perhaps its proto-language, "-ooine" was a different word that meant "world" or "place" and simply became a suffix over time in the same way "shire" is a suffix to many towns/cities on earth.

Especially for lower-paying jobs, getting fired isn't really a thing. Most employers will just remove you from the schedule specifically to prevent you from qualifying for unemployment (can't qualify if you left voluntarily). And severance isn't a thing at any job I've ever had.

Based on one state where 70% of the voters were over 45, only 10% were under 30, and the black vote is notably more conservative than in the rest of the country.
Bernie's ahead with black voters nationwide.

Try reflecting and maybe not being an elitist fuckwad.
The working classes of Star Wars needed a genuine organization to lead the struggle against the bourgeois Senate as well as the Confederate Parliament.
-No to Palpatine, Dooku, Jedi, and Sith!
-Liberation for all beings, sentient and artificial!

I read it more as "are you seriously worried that you could become me after all this time?" I think there's also an element of him having come to terms with it and her very much not.
@ProudSocialist
Pete came sooooo close to getting it during one of the early debates. "They're gonna call us all socialists, so why not run on our actual values?"
Hey, if they're gonna call you a socialist no matter what, why not actually run a socialist campaign? Call their bluff!

@ProudSocialist
@JoeBiden
I'm just gonna try and cut through the vagueposting and say that being called out on a shitty take isn't the same as having multiple blue checkmarks literally post libel about you being a foreign asset on Brad Parscale's payroll.
I get a little annoyed at people who say Andor isn't "really Star Wars." I mean, I get it; tone-wise it's a pretty sharp departure, but thematically it's basically distilled Star Wars to its core. It's almost more Star Wars than the OT due to how grounded it is.
@dpakman
My gut instinct is no, since the sole qualification for VP is that you have to be eligible to serve as POTUS. Obama's already served 2 terms, so he's not eligible and can't be VP. Though we do have ineligible people in the line of succession now, so they could just skip him.
@yascaoimhin
Movie theater I worked at didn't do student, senior, or military discounts because all the tickets were the same price (cheapest in the entire city that I'm aware of) and that melted so many peoples' brains.
@beckieavery4
Libertarians are literally to the GOP what you think Greens are too the Dems. The vast majority of both minor parties' supporters wouldn't vote if their candidate wasn't on the ballot, but when the LP is there and if they steal votes, it's almost exclusively from the GOP.
Regardless of which tendency, org, etc you support, Twitter isn't a good place for debate. We can platform and clarify our perspectives, but arguments don't help anyone. They demoralize and disorganize, and are rarely engaged in good faith.
Log off, read theory, and touch grass.
@hchrxstensen
5% "we ain't got the budget"
95% "let's think for 2 seconds about how the fandom at large feels about this man right now"
Not saying it was deserved at all, but that's my best guess as to why Matt was cast instead of calling Hayden.
I'd be fascinated by a Clone Wars remake with the exact same events told from the CIS's perspective. Not Dooku's, not the Trade Federation's. Have it follow a series of characters who live in Separatist systems, who believe in the cause and experience the effects of the war.

Fundamentally I think it's a question of who I would trust with the media more: a democratic workers' state or private companies
