This is why @ReBuckEdu cannot work from each other’s planning… we are so similar in so many ways but this 😂 she organises folders chronologically (ie like a savage) and I order by subject/topic (ie like a smart person who can easily find things year upon year)

🧵Mixed Age Classes. I've taught in mixed age classes for 21 yrs. I have led in schools with mixed age, & supported 100s of schools with mixed age classes. Put simply, approaches used for single age classes are 99% of the time simply not appropriate. It's its own unique approach.

I’m a fan of classic ‘word sort’ activities like these, but I do believe a small tweak can make them more effective at promoting orthographic mapping. A very small🧵 on why I think they’re powerful and a small, simple addition to make them even better!

So glad @_MissieBee & I found time to delve into the % coverage of GPCs needed to achieve the standards for spelling outlined by the NC for KS2. D.McGuinness set 40% as needed to know 90% of print but the NC needs needs a slightly higher coverage of about 50% in our opinion.

I’ve spent all day with @ReBuckEdu updating our spelling approach and accompanying documents ready to share for #PrimaryEssentials in 3 weeks! After a couple of years of implementation, we’ve reflected and stripped things back. Looking forward to share with anyone coming!
