Whatever you think of the red card, surely Barrett should have been off for an HIA?
Ireland lead at the break. 🍀 🟥Tadgh Beirne sent off in the 2nd minute of the game. 🏉Ireland scored first through Tadgh Furlong and the All Blacks replied almost instantly through skipper Ardie Savea. HT: 🍀10-7 🇳🇿 https://t.co/IZKLaegOeB

It would be great @rugbyontnt if your pundits had more, impartial information about the instrumented mouth guards. We’d be more than happy to have conversations with them about it.

What does it say about how @worldrugby really view player welfare that the laws have not been changed so that an incident deemed to be head contact with a high degree of danger is an automatic HIA?
@worldrugby @progesssiverugby @AlixPopham Kolisi took a shoulder to the head - looked he might have been momentarily out - recovered v quickly - officials judged head contact with a high degree of danger - no HIA - substituted minutes later so no fear of missing next weeks game

This is why we don’t promote or endorse scrum caps - they offer no protection against concussion and brain injuries (they’re great for protecting against abrasions!).
Since 2022, the NFL has been touting Guardian Caps with the claim they reduced concussions by 50%. Sales to kids boomed. Then their own analysis of the data refuted that claim. They quietly published the study & never told the public. Please read & share https://t.co/xaAn8VCvN1

We do not believe that it is fit for purpose because concussive symptoms can take up to 72 hours to appear, and because currently no test exists which can conclusively rule out a concussion.

We do not believe that the HIA Protocol is fit for purpose but World Rugby continues to defend its use. So what actions are they going to take given that it is not being followed properly?
@AlixPopham @WorldRugby @WelshRugbyUnion @EnglandRugby @ProgressiveRug @Head4Change @melliebrampops @WillStewNeuro @ChrisNowinski1 @jamesjpdrake @Marshal14308007 @LisRyan_Nutri @ed_eddaly @SilverwoodVS @Mr_Andrew_Fox @thepaulwilliams @peterrobinson86 There's a collective blindness on the gap between what the much vaunted HIA Protocol says and what actually happens - it's classic institutional self-deception.

Rest is the only scientifically proven recovery from concussion, which is why @ProgressiveRug advocates for a minimum 21 day rest period post a brain injury at all levels of rugby union, not just at amateur level.
The polar cap…..oh look another concussion game changer. Concerning its already being rolled out as a solution….Alleviating symptoms does not alleviate an unfolding TBI. A US company trialled something similar years ago and failed.

We would strongly support automatic HIAs when a player receives a card for contact with the head.

For context, Dr Buckland runs the Australian Brain Bank and is the head of the Neuropathology Department at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.

He's never diagnosed the condition in anyone who didn’t have a history of head trauma." Let that sink in @WorldRugby 🏉🧠😡😢

@AlixPopham @AndrewW93733842 @BathRoadSafety @happymindsnow @WorldRugby @WelshRugbyUnion @EnglandRugby @ProgressiveRug @Head4Change @ChrisNowinski1 It’s definitely debatable if the players are fully aware of the risks. However, the various Unions and World Rugby are, however they want to dress that up. Which means that by continuing to use protocols which aren’t fit for purpose - HIA and GRTP - they are leaving themselves

With the assistance of this monumental grant, Dr. McKee continues to work towards the overarching goal of identifying the early-life changes produced by RHI exposure that lead to CTE, AD and ADRD in later life and ultimately spotlighting biomarkers for early detection and

@DrEannaFalvey @peterrobinson86 Not a rugby weekend goes by without officials giving a card for head contact but no HIA or removal being required - not a lawyer or a medic but I can read English

At the very least, both players should be off for HIAs #AUSvNZ
