For the record, I know plenty of Sicilians who’ll refuse any request out of sheer stubbornness, no matter how many of their daughters are getting married that day.

NEW @HoustoniaMag : Why isn't Houston the weirdest Texas city? We have our own genre of rap, a banging food scene, bizarre art cars, and everything that Austin doesn't. And yet, we still don't get the praise we deserve. more: https://t.co/5CsQto8OeB

Houston’s quirks run deep. So why does Austin get all the “weird” credit?

Due to a ridiculous work schedule for me and club sport travel schedule for Youngest Child … Nothing. Not a thing. It’s glorious. I feel like a Dad in the 80s. I’ll roll up to Thanksgiving at my SiL’s, shake some cocktails, and be asleep in a recliner by 4pm.

What dishes are you responsible for this Thanksgiving? This year I’m on the turkey, ham, broccoli rice and cheese casserole, green bean casserole, deviled eggs and rolls. I’m not overwhelmed at all.😫

How is the survival of the USS New Orleans not already a Band of Brothers-style series? My grandpa told us he was on the New Orleans, that he “loaded the big guns,” and he liked Australia. Turns out there’s more to that story…. https://t.co/fZYNGbSZLn

My grandma summed it up pretty well— “Pine pollen just makes people crazy.”

We have a toxic relationship with East Texas, because everytime we duck behind the pine curtain we just love it, despite its abhorrent backwardness. It's charms are completely intoxicating and it makes zero sense. -OS

Reminder that Texas attorneys have an ethical duty of technical competence. So, as one hypothetical example, we should not use removable stickers to “redact” documents we plan on sending back to the jury because the Lord has already caused Adobe to add a “redaction” tool.

A good court reporter makes trial so much more tolerable. This one gives out chocolate at breaks. Truly doing the Lord’s work out here.

I'm not in the habit of reposting LinkedIn stuff here, but this is good - I'm so happy we have clients willing to trust our junior associates to argue important cases for them.

My (female) opposing counsel referred to another female attorney as a “trollop” today. The wonders never cease, really.

I’ve lived in Boston, and served on an ice breaker. I know ice. You can’t drive on ice, my southern neighbors. It ends poorly. Always. Don’t drive on ice. And tomorrow morning this is all going to be ice.

I’m the weirdo who loved studying for and taking the LSAT. I love the rules and puzzles part of law. It’s the people part of lawyering that I find so exhausting.

I’m studying for the LSATs. Yes, I’m 40 years old and trying to start a new career. I’ve learned that my Chemistry brain needs to make a major transition to reading comprehension. Is this question easy or difficult to you?

@VoxPrudentia This is hilarious. So many judges have their own preferences about citation style. I worked for two different judges who clerked at SCOTUS and each has different things they prefer from the style guide over the bluebook. Just make it consistent and clean and no one will notice.

Amen. I see a lot of hard fought cases. So many moments where we each might have done better. That being said, there are a few truly miserable stinkers out there. I feel bad for their families.

To be a good litigator, study Rules of Procedure, Local Rules, but what is perhaps the most important, is being a kind person (something I try to work on, although I do not always succeed. And it's ok to fail but always try). Litigation is stressful, you don't need more of it.

Supreme Court moots are funny because you’re allowed to be actively rude to the most accomplished person you’ve ever met for 60 minutes as long as you plausibly sound like Sam Alito while you do it
