God this makes me angry. The fucking excuses. Just say, “I used AI to help draft it and I didn’t spend the time to adequately understand what was being prepared. This is an embarrassing moment, which won’t be repeated, your honor.”.

The “oh no I was sooo busy and didn’t have time to read what I was submitting to the court” excuse is bad, but the “HACKERS CHANGED THE CITED CASES TO FAKE ONES” is a new level of fucking ridiculous.
Another crazy (to me) sanctions order against a lawyer who used AI that hallucinated cases. At the OSC hearing, this guy first admitted he used Copilot without checking the cites. Then he told the court he must have been hacked, and the hack resulted in the fake cases. Then he
