They say all good things must come to an end and after 18 years with BBC Radio 5 Live – I will be leaving on May 8th. It’s been quite an adventure. (1/5)
Exciting Announcement:
I’m joining
@BBCRadio2
to present Sunday nights into Monday mornings 0000-0300 each week.
I’ve loved all the shows I’ve done to date and can’t wait to have a weekly gig there.
The mighty
@OJBorg
does Tues-Fri with the midnight massive
Red Button now: Luge Doubles. How do you even begin this Sport?
M1: What we doing this afternoon?
M2: Well. I thought you could lie on me and we could bomb down this icy causeway together.
M1: But if I’m lying on you what are YOU lying on?
M2: This tea-tray.
This week. A return to late night radio. Midnight Thursday into Friday morning. I’ll be making my
@BBCRadio2
debut, filling in for the mighty irrepressible
@OJBorg
I’m banking on you to tune in.
(OJ even put the bunting out for me)
Back on your radio next week. Monday 22nd July- Thursday 25th.
4pm-7pm
@talkRADIO
For one week only, whilst stocks last.
They’ve promised me a quiet week...
📻
First day back in the gym following covid and bronchitis. Just a gentle 2km at 13’56” but it felt amazing to be moving again.
Despite being the heaviest I’ve ever been in my life. I’m hoping by telling you this, I’ll motivate myself into doing something about it.
That’s not like Mike Dean to put himself front and centre of a game with a controversial decision in the dying minutes. Usually you never know it’s him reffing a game. 😳
Roy Keane is enjoying himself on
@SkySports
tonight. So far he’s taken out Pogba, Shaw, Darmian and he’s starting on Neville now. Only Souness looks safe here..
My new friends
@talkRADIO
have asked if I want to play out again, during the summer holidays.
Next Monday 19th I’ll begin two weeks on Drive: Mon-Thu 4-7pm.
This is giving you plenty of notice to retune/download the app.

Bit of News: I will be leaving
@timesradio
when my current contract expires on June 1st. I’m extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to have created a quality radio show from scratch, on a brand new station for which I thank Times Radio.
👇
Ben Stokes won’t be buying beer in Yorkshire tonight. Akin to Botham in ‘81 he has single handedly won that Test Match for England. The mental strength to do that - incredible.
Farewell
@RealKenBruce
I remember interviewing him once and asking him if he always knew what he was going to say when he opened the mic. “No,” he replied.
“But you’re funny every time,” I said.

Just to let you know I have just paused my
@SkySports
subscription. You can do this on their website by logging into your account. It's one button, and they'll automatically reinstate it once live sport resumes. Saves a few quid.
Massive respect to Garry Richardson for doing 20 years on Sportsweek
@bbc5live
Garry was always really kind & helpful to me when I first started at 5 and is a broadcasting Titan. His quality will be very much missed.
Last show starting now...
Any scientists follow me who might be able to explain how my tiny six month old baby is capable of generating enough force to shit so far up his back, you have to clean it out of his hair? Isaac Newton need not apply.
@martynziegler
And even as you typed that, another soft one rules out a perfectly good Arsenal goal…
The technology is good. Those operating it are not.
Is there this much controversy in other countries where it’s used, do you know…?
When the lovely people you work with
@TimesRadio
send you
@BloomandWild
flowers to cheer you up and encourage a speedy recovery.
I’ve never had flowers from anywhere I’ve worked before. So touched. Made my weekend.
Thank you
@timlevell
and everyone at

Sports Direct has hiked prices of some sports equipment, including skipping ropes, weights and resistance belts, by more than 50% in some cases on Tuesday, according to documents seen by the PA news agency
@IainDale
@LBC
Fair play to you Iain. I know this won’t have been tweeted lightly. I can vouch for how collegiate you usually are even with ‘rival’ stations… I admire you for speaking out.
@Sonjamclaughlan
Toxic, embarrassing, disgraceful, appalling... isn’t you. It’s the dickheads having a go AT you. I watched all your interviews and as always you asked exactly what I wanted to know as a fan who’d watched the game.
Back yourself. Hope you’re ok
Basically the PM says if the opposition

and run the overs down, he’ll use Duckworth Lewis to trigger a super over, which Tony Blair says is a trap and wants to refer to DRS. He suspects Boris Johnson has sandpaper down his trousers.
Has to be the greatest Cricket World Cup Final of all time. Congratulations

Extraordinary match. The reason why I ❤️ Sport. Stokes surely gets Man of the Match.

mad Finlay wrote an emotional letter to his favourite player and hero,
@JackGrealish
. What followed was a moment he'll never forget.
Rachael was so much fun to sit alongside, behind a mic. Just typing ‘was’ instead of ‘is’ feels wrong. I hope she left plenty of that courage for you and Freddie, Steve.
She certainly left you both plenty of Pride in the way she changed the dialogue around cancer. All my love x
Our beautiful, courageous Rachael died peacefully this morning surrounded by her close family. We are crushed but she would want me to thank everyone who took an interest in her story or sent messages of support. You’ll never know how much they meant to her. Steve and Freddie xxx
Tonight, my production team consisted of two new assistant producers on their first week on my
@TimesRadio
show. At 18.57 they threw out a 3 hour running order and fixed insightful reaction to Cressida Dick’s resignation.
Marshalled brilliantly by
@PhilipWilding
I’m indebted.
I’m very saddened to hear this. Alastair supported me on here long before I ever met him. I found him to very generous to other broadcasters and he was proud to have done ITN for so long. You speak as you find and I only ever encountered a kind family loving man.

Times Radio will launch at 6am on Monday 29 June and our presenters include Mariella Frostrup, Giles Coren and Hugo Rifkind. Amber Rudd and her daughter Flora will also present specially commissioned shows.

Listening to the fabulous
@simonmayo
signing off from R2. What a broadcaster. What a lovely man. A radio hero of mine, from calling in to his Private Line on R1 to getting to work with him. Good luck with new adventures.
Missus informs me that my four year old entertained the village this morning when a police car went hurtling past with its siren on. He turned to his mum and said, “Oops. SOMEONE’s on the rob.”
I blame the parents.
Thank you for all the lovely messages tonight on my
@timesradio
debut. Means the world to me. Together with
@PhilipWilding
we have big ambitions for this programme. Stick with us and we’ll see you right between 7-10pm Mon-Fri.
I’ve been broadcasting over 25 years. Having to do Breakers and Newsflashes on awful, horrific, distressing stories never gets any easier.
My heart goes out to Sarah Everard’s family. ❤️
I can’t begin to imagine what her loved ones are going through tonight.
Rhod is a broadcasting titan. But more than that he’s a gentleman who always gave me his time when I started at 5Live. He’s a v generous broadcaster and to do the show he’s done for this long is a gargantuan effort. I feel privileged to have shared air time with him.
I have a Big Thing to say: April 2, 2020 will be the last time anyone pays me for being Up All Night. After that it will be strictly voluntary. Fear not — the show will go on, . Plans are already being made for an extra-special 🦢 song.
Well done to
@primevideosport
@PrimeVideo
for hiring
@rosenthal_jim
to front the Villa game. He’s still got it - warm, engaging, knowledgeable.
Other networks could learn that age is no barrier to talent.
Very proud of my friend
@EllyOldroyd
providing commentary on the Ceremony of Remembrance on
@BBCRadio4
- how does she make such difficult sensitive tasks sound so smooth?
I promised I’d tell you some of the amazing guests I have on my new
@timesradio
show starting 7pm-10pm Monday night.
Firstly I’m delighted to say joining me for the first regular Sports chat at 2130 is one of the finest Sports broadcasters of his generation,
@markpougatch
Really saddened to hear of Maxi Jazz’s death.
Had an amazing lost night with him once which ended the morning after. He was kind, gentle and really funny.
I loved watching him live, he was an amazing frontman.
‘You don’t need eyes to see,
You need vision.’
#RIP
I’m hearing lots of accounts of people trying to book covid tests only to be offered them 60+ miles from their house. Yet when they drive past the local testing centre, there’s nobody there.
Message me if this is your experience.
@TimesRadio
tonight from 7pm.
@rorybremner
So sorry for your loss Rory. I used to relish the George Parr sketches they did, wonderfully ridiculing the absurd of authority.
What a huge loss to a world that’s never needed satire more. X
Bit overwhelmed with your responses to be honest.
I will read every single one and endeavour to reply in good time.
Better get some Friday jobs done now...
Just said ‘see you later, Alligator,’ to my three year old.
And I think it’s a credit to our parenting, that unprompted, he replied, ‘In a while, Crocodile.’
Really sad to hear of Bob Willis’ death. When I was 11, I copied his bowling action. I wanted to be him. Botham’s Ashes would’ve been nothing without Bob’s 8-43.
Thoughts with Lauren & family.
#RIPGoose
To the regular guests on my late night show who’ve stayed up way beyond their bedtimes to speak to us. And to you, for your loyalty, tuning in and for making the show what it is. (4/5)
Massive shout out to all the supermarket staff who are keeping the shelves stocked whilst some individuals try & steer two trollies round, packed with food.
All working long hours. All very cheery & helpful.
Phil Williams will host evenings, Monday to Thursday, guiding listeners through the big stories of the day while looking ahead to tomorrow's headlines and keeping his audience across sports and entertainment news.

Bloody hell…! What do you say about one of the greatest living broadcasters? Ken makes being funny every link seem effortless and trust me, it’s not. I’ll really miss you Ken 🥲
We have some news…
After 31 years of presenting the 9:30am-midday weekday show Ken Bruce has decided to leave.
We’re going to miss you lots Ken and want to congratulate you on a fantastic career at the BBC. 🧡
I think
@Channel4
could use
#TheCircle
to sort Brexit.
Eight politicians locked into a block of flats. Some pretending to be people they’re not. All shit stirred by Richard Madeley.
RIP Dickie Davies.
Grew up watching him on World of Sport then in 2006 had the pleasure of sharing airtime with him.
He couldn’t have been nicer, kinder or funnier. This photo made me v happy.
