Just spoke with Jose Mourinho in the tunnel. He says that after 15 year old ball boy Callum Hynes joined the team today for their pre-match lunch, he will now be inviting a different ball boy/girl to do the same ahead of every home game. Nice touch.

🤔I see everyone has cut & pasted the ‘first overseas referee in the premier league’ story without checking the facts…
Dermot Gallagher, born in Ringsend in Dublin, was a PL ref for 15 years.
Trust me, there is a sea in-between. 😀✈️⛴
Just interviewed Peter O’Mahony who had tears in his eyes talking about how kids used to grow up in Ireland thinking this kind of thing wasn’t possible. Warrior.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, could deliver a line of sports commentary with the controlled gusto of Eddie Butler. The more frantic and excited the moment, the more timbre and gravitas in his voice. A real gent to work with. Desperately sad news.
Jack Charton used to always deny the myth that he would buy rounds of pints in pubs in Ireland and pay by cheque knowing they would never be cashed, but hung on the wall instead.
The most popular Englishman in Ireland. Ever.
People in Ireland haven't been this excited about a game they don't understand since the Irish cricketers got past the group stage of the cricket World Cup in 2007. 😉
Happy birthday

Older than social media and apps, but still none of them can report a goal flash quicker.
Very proud to have been involved in 22 of the 30 years, and counting…
Every year people say the FA Cup is losing it’s magic and every year the old girl shows us she still has a sparkle. No matter what happens now this 17 year old has grabbed himself a very special

moment.

Just interviewed Jose Mourinho in the tunnel at Turf Moor. He has gone very strong on Tanguy Ndombele. Basically blames the first half performance on him.

Farewell to World Cup 2018.
Absolute privilege to be part of the
@5liveSport
team.
The camaraderie between the commentators, pundits, presenters, producers and engineers made this the best trip I’ve ever been on.
Let’s do it all again in 4 years.
This has got to be the strongest bench ever named in Premier League history?

…. Lovely preview of City v Liverpool just now. Runaway train of eloquent thought. He has that wonderful ability to breath through his ears. Never stops talking for something as irrelevant as a breath!
Just interviewed Raheem Sterling for
@BBCMOTD
.
Says he set up Sane to score even though he was on a hat-trick himself: “That guy is always looking out for me. I wanted to set one up for him”.

… some giant boots to fill… but it is such an honour to be asked to keep the seat warm for the best in the business

Some people really are irreplaceable, but I’m going to give it my best to do him proud this summer.
Just interviewed David Moyes for
@BBCMOTD
.
Asked him about the West Ham fans leaving long before the end:
“I probably would have left too, if I was them.”

They are taking down some of the banners in the Kop end at Anfield... apparently in order to build a stage/podium for the Premier League trophy presentation... 👀

One of my favourite Jimmy stories:
A few years back he was putting away Christmas decorations up into the attic with the help of his grandson.
Amid the tinsel & baubles the grandson spotted a shiny object...
“Grandad, what’s this?”
“That, son, is my World Cup Winners Medal.”
I’ve just sparked a diplomatic incident at Kilmarnock.
I’ve not been here for years and was not aware of the “pies in the press room are for half-time only” rule.
Have tried to laugh it off... but no one else is laughing. 😬
If you zoom in closely on each and every one of those beer-throwing celebration videos you’ll find the Irish guy with a protective palm over the top of his glass.
Presenters, producers, runners, commentators, engineers, bosses…
Any show Wrighty works on, he somehow puts everyone in a good mood. Never seen anyone have an effect that wide-ranging.
After my debut show whilst still a player in 1997 and many more memorable years, I’ll be stepping back from BBC MOTD at the end of this season. I feel very privileged to have had such an incredible run on the most iconic football show in the world.
Poor old Johnny 5....
The saddest sight in football...
Never used and, yet, still shows up to every Premier League game...

Strong performance from Andrew Omobamidele for Ireland tonight.
Heard a few different pronunciations of his name from various broadcasters, so here it is from the horse’s mouth:
This is such great news! As I said from the beginning, some people really are irreplaceable.
It’s been an honour to keep the seat warm for
@MilesHarrisonTV
but it wouldn’t be a proper Lions Series without him.
Delighted that I get to go out on a high with the 2nd Test tomorrow.
Best ‘summer job’ I’ve ever had. What a buzz!
Thanks to everyone at
@SkySports
for a brilliant few weeks. Top team in front and behind the camera.
The legend
@MilesHarrisonTV
is back behind the mic next week. I’ll be watching at home with a massive glass of red wine!
Commentated on an ENG v AUS game at Twickenham with Brian a few yrs ago.
He arrived 30 secs before teams came out with an enormous pie. Huge.
Whole thing was devoured in those 30 secs. Straight into comms without a burp or a belch. Never been so impressed by anything in my life.
My England career began with a Calcutta Cup, and my BBC co-comms career on the Men's 6 Nations will end on Saturday with another.
Thank you to all at BBC Sport, especially my mate, Eddie Butler. It's been a privilege to work on some unforgettable sporting occasions.
