Son has continuous cough since early Nov. Can't get to sleep. Barely tolerated in classroom on few days he's there. GPs at wits end, referred to #paediatricrespiratory @OUHospitals. Appointment end July! #NHS that's way too long to wait for a young person missing school.

Spare 90 seconds to watch & share this great little video with a very important message, from children and young people missing out on school due to unmet special needs.
Parents are blamed by the government for absent children when in fact we are fighting to get our children to school. If anyone wants to know why we fight so hard - watch this #WeCanLearn @education4all23 @DCPcampaign @bphillipsonMP @helenhayes_

Wise words @Rachel_deSouza: I want to see an overhaul of how we think and talk about disabled children’s experiences: it is not the job of one department, or one funding pot.We must consider what every child needs to fulfil their potential and feel pride in what they can achieve.

Been working hard on these data challenges for several years with @CDC_tweets @TrueColoursTrus @BlogSenco @KarenHorridge. Great to see @ChildrensComm highlighting importance of better data to improve services for disabled children, young people and their families.

#Data:'The number of children in England who are disabled is not known. There are different definitions and understandings of disability, resulting in a lack of consistent, centralised data' ... 'commissioners do not have a clear picture of the prevalence and type of need.'
