The National Audit Office reports that too few frailty assessments are being completed. Eligible patients and carers could play a more active role in their care by seeking early support and attending routine reviews offered by their GP practice.

Despite all the rhetoric about the digitalisation of the NHS, patients often have no way of knowing at what stage of the referral process they are currently at. In comparison, if you buy something online, you receive regular automated updates about the status of your order.

One challenge that GPs and patients face is the large number of referrals to specialist teams that are not processed because they are rejected, lost or sent back for additional (often irrelevant) information; creating extra work for primary care teams and stress for patients.

I's not by chance that @ImperialSCARU was called into @UKParliament to discuss how #SocialPrescribing could be leveraged to promote #SelfCare. I half-expected the statues to lean in with gossip from select committees but they did no such thing. @Imperial_PCPH @ImperialSPH

Capitation-based funding results in general practices being paid for people that may never require their services during a year. This is how GP funding works. It is a population-based approach to funding that aims to recognise some patients will use the NHS much more than others.

In this @bmj_latest article by @emahase_ I discuss why the rollout of the cholesterol-lowering drug Inclisiran did not go as well as hoped. Careful planning and implementation are essential for the successful use of any new intervention by the NHS.

Clinicians constantly revise, reinterpret and filter past information so that only what is relevant, accurate and timely shapes present-day management decisions. Electronic medical records are therefore “working tools” rather than static archives. https://t.co/CRplN0utTS

If the government’s mental health review leads to improved diagnostic practices & better-resourced services, it could improve the care for neuro-divergent & mentally ill people. But it should not be a justification for denying people access to treatment or disability benefits.

Social media allows professionals to communicate directly with the public, bypassing traditional media routes. But the same channels that support the spread of evidence-based information also provide a platform for extremists and conspiracy theorists to promote their narratives.
