Interesting to note both that absolute number of disruptive papers hasn’t changed (we are making lots of incremental headway!) and that disruptive and incremental aren’t “good” and “bad.” Incremental growth in knowledge is what science is built on!

I mean my intuitive answer to this is party ID of voters legitimately was still favoring Rs, but combination of Trump and blocking $2000 checks convinced some people to vote Ds in the Senate

I feel like it’s been lost in the politics of it all that even if a check to everyone would be better long term, putting a bunch more money into UI extensions would be much much better for the economy as a whole
