Excellent points @VinGuptaMD
Gupta: I had a chance to speak to a lot of radiology colleagues at the best academic institutions in the country over the last 24 hours… They had justified getting an MRI of the torso for primary screening of some sort of medical process because he’s older, and that doesn’t

I'm glad @DrMakaryFDA has time for bullshit mitochondria-energizing techniques or whatever while his agency is in a catastrophic tailspin. I guess now that FDA isn't capable of actual drug regulation, cold plunges are the medicine of the future.
This story of Marty Makary in a cold tub was posted on Gary Brecka's (wellness influencer) Instagram less than a day ago. Contrasts oddly with today's FDA leadership news.

My friend Keith was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. He is a MASSIVE Christmas music fan (@MichaelBuble ) He wrote and recorded an amazingly catchy Christmas song that he is trying to get covered as a legacy piece for his family ( recording below👇) Please

I agree with the push for better precision medicine. I think such a future will be invaluable. But the way NNT is being used in this post is a gross misrepresentation. NNTs for the top 10 drugs come almost entirely from short trials, usually 2 to 5 years, while people live with

This is all true about NNT. NNT is best for a one off intervention - like Lytic or not for acute stroke. When measuring effect of a treatment on a continuous risk, hazard ratio is better. Pro tip 👉 if you are a medical contrarian (aka influencer) and you want to minimize

Looks like there might actually be some accountability for this guy's pattern of persistent health disinformation: https://t.co/RqL2OXclUM
This is unprofessional conduct and should be reported to the medical board of whatever state he works in. This is: a. Completely false b. Likely to cause harm c. Beyond his training/scope of practice

There are basically three defenses by Muskbros: 1. “I don’t believe the models!”Notably they don’t explain what’s wrong with them, present alternative estimates, etc. They just don’t believe them. No evidence. Just a fixed firm belief. 2. “Musk had nothing to do with DOGE!”

A stat worth knowing: McKinsey the consulting firm has more employees than there are journalists of any kind in the US, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Newspapers are closing at an emergency-level rate—over the past 20 years, America has lost more than 3,000. For the past six years, the photographer Ann Hermes has been documenting the lives lived in these dying places across the country. See more images: https://t.co/fZqNYFMo1O

I think there is good intent behind this family communication tool, but it seems potentially confusing and lacking empathy. Hanging this outside someone’s room also feels like potential breach of privacy.
Implementing Best Case/Worst Case-ICU supported family communication and clinician consensus for over 1300 older trauma patients; adherence varied across trauma centers. https://t.co/u0c5RJ7MHr
