Whoa, if this holds, this is huge deal. It will be very interesting to see what Barr does here. DOJ used to vigorously fight attempts by Congress to call line attorneys, though of late they have, ahem, moved away from that bright-line rule when it has suited them.

Andrew does an amazing job here, you should read the thread. TL;DR - there is no such thing as a “proactive arrest.” That’s illegal, a 4th Amendment violation. You also can not be arrested because you are near someone who may have committed a crime. Our govt knows better.
Today on TV, the Deputy Director of the federal paramilitary force in

discussed the infamous van video. He described a textbook example of an unconstitutional arrest.

Don't be fooled by newly manufactured spin about "vetting." Unless processes have changed dramatically under this president, substantiated disagreements would have been included with the initial assessment. 1/
Anyone claiming these things about the PDB is either profoundly ignorant or is knowingly lying to you.
The core PDB, even for presidents who *did* read it voraciously, rarely even reached 20 pages.
And for 55 years, *every* POTUS (possibly excepting of Nixon) has read it.

This is so important. There is the powerless you feel in the face of threats, and in my case, some bonus slut-shaming, but I also think it’s critical to remember that being targeted in this way is a very lonely, isolating experience. Which, of course, is the point.
