A SHORT THREAD ABOUT HOW TO REGISTER NEW VOTERS:
1/ You can organize or participate in voter registration drives or go door-knocking in a neighborhood to register voters, but you can also do what I call “drive by voter registrations,” which are easy & almost always successful.
THREAD: Louis DeJoy, the Postmaster Gen’l, reports to the 6-member USPS Brd of Govs, 2 of whom are retired. I’m going to call & write the 4 members who’ve posted BUSINESS contact information on the internet, where it’s generally available. I hope YOU will too, & RETWEET this! /1

My husband and I married in 1979. I’m a professional, so I wanted to keep my own name. This didn’t bother him in the slightest because he’s smarter, more secure, and far more successful than you’ll ever be. So am I.
“‘Volkswagen, Panasonic, Tesla and now Panasonic again have passed up on Oklahoma because they're feeling that they can't attract and retain high quality employees, when they tell them they must move to a state like Oklahoma,’ Rep. Mickey Dollens (R-Oklahoma City) said.”

Panasonic has turned down a second multi-million dollar deal to open a battery plant in Oklahoma. This marks the third company to stray away from the state, as lawmakers work to figure out why Oklahoma can’t land these large deals.
I plan to be polite but firm about my fury about the recent deterioration of USPS’s service, giving personal & family examples regarding medication & veterans services, & expressing my distrust of & dissatisfaction with the performance of PG DeJoy.

I remember when the govt first offered the polio vaccine to the public: town families were give notices of when to line up, by street, at the H.S. Everyone lined up except those already in iron lungs, or condemned to walk in braces for their lives, as some of my classmates were.
Trump said in Richmond, that he will take all federal funds away from public schools that require vaccines. Like most states, Virginia requires MMR vaccine, chickenpox vaccine, polio, etc. So Trump would take millions in federal funds away from all Virginia public schools.

There’s no such tradition. The DOJ’s prohibition against opening investigations regarding someone running for elective office within 60 days of an election applies only to investigations, not to trials. The investigation of Trump wrt Jan6th is long since completed.
As you read it, remind yourself that if just 7,000 more Democrats had turned out to vote in 2022 in just FIVE Congressional districts, Hakeem Jeffries would be the Majority Leader today, and we wouldn’t be dealing with this MAGA nonsense in the House.
Remember: just 7,000 votes.

I’m a lawyer; check my profile. Jordan voted against accepting the legitimate results of the 2020 election, certified by the duly authorized officers of the 50 states. That’s insurrection against the Constitution. It doesn’t need to be armed to be insurrection.
Biden needs a second term to finish this work. *We* need him to have a second term to finish this work, for *us*.
I don’t believe that any President, since FDR, has been more dedicated to preserving our democracy, and the rights of *all* of us.
These questions get to the core of the foreign policy issues Biden feels most strongly about, and, imho, his overarching reason for being president: trying to restore American normalcy and sanity at home, and confidence in America among allies abroad after Trump catastrophe.
@CheriJacobus
Luckily, unlike you, I’m a lawyer, so I happen to know that in PA the GOP controlled legislature can’t appoint its own electors without amending the PA electoral code, which Dem Gov Wolf would veto, & the GOP lacks sufficient votes to overcome his veto. It’s the same in MI & WI.
All of these things are true, but it’s even worse than that. All his lending or insurance agreements containing the standard “covenants of good standing” are now irrevocably in breach, which no appeal will cure, and can therefore be terminated or accelerated by the other parties.
The New York Attorney General’s trial has definitely gotten under Trump’s skin. Yet he was far calmer at his arraignment on 30-plus counts of unlawfully retaining classified documents. Why is he stressing? 1/
To those still harboring reservations about Garland’s willingness to take on Trump and his minions, please note that this excellent example of knife-fighting, litigation style, was filed by his Deputy AG, Brian Boynton.

This is also an adroit move on Garland’s part, IMO. He knows objections will be made by all GOP candidates that their prosecutions are motivated purely by partisanship, so he’s strapped Barr’s memo on like armor.

Pressure like this usually works on Board members. It’s not what they sign up for. It’s distracting and disruptive to their day jobs, where they make their real money.

When I graduated from law school in 1979, Wall St and BigLaw were substantially run by guys like Tucker Carlson, many of them very mediocre. Their world has almost completely vanished now; they run only a few exclusive golf clubs today. That’s why Tucker and his ilk are so angry.
Tucker Carlson's repulsive attack on Zelensky claimed he "humiliated" the US by addressing Congress in a sweatshirt. But his speech was more humiliating to Tucker and the Putinists than to anyone else.
I tallied up the things Tucker got wrong this year:
“[T]he economy just turned in banner GDP growth of 5.2% in the third quarter. Gas prices have fallen into a range that’s arguably normal and every prediction of a recession during Biden's presidency has turned out to be flat wrong.”
@RickPetree
Bad strategy. The J6 Committee should wait until the 4 witnesses fail to appear next week, then request the House to certify the criminal contempt under 2 U.S.C. § 192, et seq. to the DOJ (there’s a statutory process). The notion of midnight referrals were pure fantasy.

You’re very welcome. Sometimes it takes someone who’s done litigation to discern what a litigator is doing. Merrick isn’t a lamb; he just dresses like one.
One of the most insightful things anyone has ever explained to me in my life was about cynicism. He advised me to always remember that cynicism is nothing but an intellectualized form of self-pity.
It’s weakness masquerading as strength.
If obstruction of justice occurs as part of a conspiracy to defraud the American people (which it did here), then the SoL runs from the *last* overt act in furtherance of that conspiracy, so the SoL has NOT expired. But I’m a former criminal defense lawyer, so what would I know?
This will leave two counties — Shelby and Monroe — without any birthing hospitals, & strip a predominantly Black neighborhood in Birmingham of a sought-after maternity unit. People in Monroe County face drives between 35 to 100 miles to a labor & delivery
So... the net result of SCOTUS precedent and DC Circuit's opinion in McGahn is: the House can't take a subpoena to court but can immediately proceed to inherent contempt power, which includes all "such auxiliary powers as are necessary and appropriate to that end."
Let's go!
I’m glad to be able to agree with Glenn here, which is why I don’t want to hear the usual crying from Democratic laypeople about McCarthy not being immediately prosecuted for contempt of Congress: there’s a much bigger strategy at play.
J6 subpoena puts McCarthy in a trick bag: testify & incriminate Trump or refuse to testify & commit the crimes of accessory after the fact, misprision of a felony and contempt of Congress.

Virtually all women lawyers do. It’s a required skill. Ask me how often male lawyers addressed me as “honey,” starting from the first day of my first legal job.
33 states + DC have faithless elector laws, so they’re off the table. In the remaining 17 states Biden chose all his electors; most are lifelong friends. Worry about something else. This dog won’t hunt.
The lawsuits will not cause the overturn of this election. Too big a margin. The more complex issue - we are not attorneys - is Faithless Electors. A postal worker was offered 130K to blow a whistle on fraud, Texas offered $1M for proof of fraud. What would they offer electors?
Plus, the Pennsylvania legislature’s term ends on Monday, November 30th, which means there’s not enough time to pull off this cockamamie scheme, even if it weren’t unconstitutional. 🙄
A last-ditch effort to save Trump—asking GOP legislatures in PA & AZ to ignore Biden's win & install Trump electors, citing phantom voter fraud—is underway.
Idea is based on wild theory of state legislative autonomy that
