Thrilled to share that my book ROMNEY: A RECKONING will debut at No. 3 on the New York Times Best Sellers list! Can't tell you how grateful I am for everyone who's bought the book, read it, shared it, and engaged with it. This entire experience has been surreal.

Whatever you think of Bari Weiss, we can all share in @CaitlinPacific's amusement at the deep reverence and affection everyone on here suddenly discovered for CBS News once she was put in charge of it. https://t.co/nqQDvsT6lE

Read @JeffreyGoldberg on the special issue of The Atlantic dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the American revolution: "The project is still unfinished, and troubled, but it remains a project worth pursuing. That is the argument of this issue."

At 250, the Revolution’s goals remain noble and indispensable.

Last week, a man drove into a Mormon church, shot multiple people, and set the place on fire. He was killed by police. This week, Americas Mormons responded by raising $300,000 for his grieving family. I spoke to the man who led this act of mercy: https://t.co/1JSaqZ23K7

Mormons around America are responding to an act of anti-Mormon prejudice with characteristic big-heartedness.

“[Conservative] Philip Wallach… is alarmed by what he considers to be Vought’s disregard for core constitutional principles such as separation of powers. ‘For those of us who care about constitutional government, this administration is creating a lot of moments of truth.’”
I’ll be on @Morning_Joe in the 9:00 hour to talk about my profile of Russell Vought, the Trump adviser seizing on this government shutdown to advance a sophisticated—and, in his own words, “radical”—ideological project decades in the making.

“Where’s mom?” “I don’t know. Where did you look?” “Nowhere.” Have had this conversation with at least one of my kids roughly every day of the past five years.

I've been thinking a lot about the family of the man who attacked the LDS church in Michigan. When he was killed by police, he left behind a wife and 10-year-old son who must be going through unimaginable grief. I'm glad other are thinking about them too.

In the days after a shooting at the LDS Church in Michigan, members of the church raised money for the families of the victims — and the family of the shooter.

Russell M. Nelson, the Latter-day Saint prophet who called for peacemakers in a fractured world, died over the weekend. @mckaycoppins considers: “How would he have responded to the horrific violence in Michigan if he’d lived one more day?”

With violence and strife erupting all around us, can Russell Nelson’s message of hope, humility, and peace elevate us above that?

As people rushed to politicize the church shooting in Michigan, I kept thinking about how President Nelson would have responded to the attack if he'd lived one day longer. I think we all know the answer. https://t.co/QQG5NhvLCS

I have always really enjoyed reading @mckaycoppins. This is lovely and happens to correspond nicely with the Aseret Yemei Teshuvah, when we try to make peace with our life choices and conduct. "We exist to make life better for people." 🕊️❤️ My heart is with my mormon friends.

After events of the last few days, I kept coming back to this great piece on my Church from @mckaycoppins: "Mormons didn’t become avatars of a Norman Rockwellian ideal by accident. We taught ourselves to play the part over a centuries-long audition for full acceptance into
