I grew up in the ‘80s… When we took spelling tests, we swapped papers with the kid in front/behind us to correct them. Then we had to read off our scores OUT LOUD (in front of all the other kids) so the teacher could write them down in her grade book. Builds character. 😉

“If my parents gave me $200k like Bezos parents did, I would be worth millions.” Calm down Kyle, you turned a $109,000 business degree into a $42k/year salary

Honestly question, is it possible to use legal labor? I'm just trying to understand why they are acting like a storm or some other act of God halted the work
WSJ article today paints picture of what happens after ICE raids a new home construction site: Building slows down, crews avoid the area, homes sit half-finished, and local suppliers lose sales.

The community notes on this hits hard. He overstayed his tourist visa and has a deportation order. Seems like that should have been mentioned in this post or the story.
The guy has a work visa, is married to a US citizens, and has lived in the US for 20 years. A judge ruled for him to be released. And ICE is still holding him in a concentration camp in Texas.

Wash Post pushing back hard on the online lies about reporters in war zones being abandoned:
@JezCorden Please know the tweet you quoted is entirely untrue. The Washington Post is actively supporting employees impacted by last week’s restructuring, including transition support for our international employees.

The only safe bet about the Super Bowl halftime show every year is this…. A bunch of people say it is the best performance they have ever seen and a bunch of people say it is the worst performance they have ever seen. And even more people don’t give a shit one way or the other.

The media has spent more time trying to keep Colin Kaepernick relevant than he ever spent being actually relevant.
The Super Bowl is being played in Colin Kaepernick's former home stadium, at a societal moment that echoes the issues he forced football fans to confront nearly 10 years ago, after he kneeled during the national anthem before a 49ers game.

.@washingtonpost correspondents in Ukraine who are American have not been stranded. They do not have to pay for their travel home. Unclear what is happening with contract employees who are foreigners.
People I know at the Washington Post in Kyiv have been left stranded here and unable to literally pay for their travel home. They were fired by Bezos in an email - after years of high risk important work. It’s absolutely disgraceful
