Absolutely shouting piece of Cymraeg burr Oak for a clients lintel. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such colour in oak without it being oiled. It’s going to go mental but I’ve run out of white spirit to thin the Tung oil so it will have to be tmrws excitement.

It may be cold but I picked up two ticks yesterday.
Removed with tick removal tool, swabbed with neat TCP and then antiseptic cream and plaster. So far so good. No bulls eye rash 🎯

Ok twitter. I was rooting through slabs of Welsh slate to lay the floor of our cottage in Llanberis and came accross this chap. A guess anywhere between 1870-1955. A long shot but what type of uniform do you think it is? Looks Naval although no local strong naval influences. 1.

All their possessions came in two boxes made from recycled pine. This is one.

Slate quarry blast shelter Lôn Garet. For hiding in when blasting stone. These round structures have meter thick walls with enough room for about eight men, this one is partially buried by a recent rockfall. If you zoom into the second picture you can see two others.

Gathering leaf samples for a study on surviving Elms that either missed or overcame Dutch Elm Disease. This beauty (most likely a Wych Elm) in Caernarfon maybe the largest in Elm in Gwynedd. Such a graceful shape but wonder how many pass and don’t realise just what it is.
