Mandelson lobbied The Guardian not to make me Europe Editor. His meddling became public(in The Telegraph) and I was offered the Brussels post but decided to return to The Mirror as a columnist. No tears for him here.
Mandelson had a reputation of angrily telling journalists who upset him that he would report them to their their bosses whom he claimed to know well (for example, BBC DG John Birt). Does anyone know of any examples where he got people sacked?
