I wrote for @youngfabians mag about how Ernest Bevin, Britain's most consequential post-war Foreign Secretary, should be Keir Starmer's foreign policy lodestar. Labour's past can guide its future.🌹

The levels of discrimination disabled people come up against when seeking employment is criminal and should be utterly condemned. Many have their willingness to work exploited with unpaid placements that lead nowhere - pathways to a permanent job should be there for all of us.

No, Peter. When a foreign aggressor is bombing your country you may legitimately strike back by sabotaging the aggressor’s ability to finance the war. It is called self-defence.

Scandalous: according to Poland, if you don’t like an infrastructure in Europe, you can blow it up. With this, they gave advance permission for terrorist attacks in Europe. Poland has not only released but is celebrating a terrorist—this is what European rule of law has come to.

Think you have something useful to tell the Lords about Leadbeater’s bill? Think again… “the Committee is not seeking or accepting written evidence other than from invited witnesses”! Anyone aware of any precedent for this? To actively say “we don’t want to know”?

At one point in our history we built a 380-foot floating iron dry dock weighing over 8,000 tons which was dragged from England to Bermuda as Britain needed a solution for ship repairs in the Atlantic. Now we celebrate a shite digital clock design and make merch out of it.

Irrespective of one's views, the Independent Alliance MPs are growing increasingly confident. They have momentum. If they grow to a dozen or so MPs who are elected as part of a fragmented hung parliament in the future, such a group/coalition could be both powerful & influential.

The reputation of Maccabi fans is notorious, and policing should be ramped up accordingly. At the same time it is impossible to ignore the blatant sectarianism that has bled into this issue.

Per those familiar, Putin did in fact ramble about a 9th-century Varangian chieftain directly to Trump for an hour during the Alaska meeting, -FT. Trump was reportedly “taken aback.”

I'm starting to think that Putin actually did ramble about 9th-century Russian history and Rurik's ancient claim to Kyiv at Trump for an hour during the Alaska meeting.

A scheme that may have been conceived with good intentions has ballooned to an unfathomable scale. Those with severe needs (like members of my own family) have too often been conflated with chancers who have abused this flawed system. The state simply cannot afford it.
