I don’t understand it. When a statesman might make a push for unity, the PM instead insults half the population and Britain’s European allies. And for what?.
Boris Johnson appeared to compare the British people’s vote for Brexit to the fight for freedom in Ukraine. The prime minister was speaking at the Conservative Party’s spring conference.

Anyone wondering what British Trumpism looks like, here it is.
The Partygate probe is clearly rigged. It is a jury comprised of highly partisan, vengeful & vindictive MPs, nearly all of whom are already on the record viciously attacking the person they are judging. It is an obscene abuse of power.

@nadhimzahawi @MayorofLondon Odd tweet really. Is the problem the rough sleeping (which as Nadhim will know increased significantly after 2010) or it happening in Mayfair?.

Exemplary interview by @bbcnickrobinson with @MattHancock just now on @bbcr4today. Clever, robust, courteous and forensic. And, I think, devastating. What a hole the government dug for itself and, alas, for all of us.

@OwenJones84 Hold on. You’re not a lesbian. You’re not trans. You’re not a Jew or a Palestinian. You’re a middle class white guy. Yet you clearly believe your opinion matters on EVERYTHING. Not even an opinion: your talent for outrage. So yes, my opinion on ‘rights’ does count. Ciao.

Someone just sent me a screenshot of a fraction of the violent and misogynistic abuse sent to @jk_rowling in the last week. Their language reminded me of the way the most militant racists and whites supremacists have long responded to black leaders and writers. Most are men.

Nice line from @rafaelbehr today: "The Zahawi episode is a symptom of long Johnson, the chronic, recurrent debilitation of government by a pathogen that still circulates in the ruling party long after the original infection has been treated.".

Not something anyone had to even think let alone say last Saturday.
If you’re a Brexiteer protesting outside Parliament today, PLEASE don’t shout abuse or turn to violence. We have the ballot box and we WILL deliver Brexit through democratic means. We don’t throw things or set fire to cars or attack the police. We’re not French, FFS.

Coming back to London next week. Looking forward to seeing the grand-kids, walking in the parks, seeing a movie, using the Underground, getting a coffee, going in to work, meeting colleagues, hoping that tomorrow doesn’t belong to people like this….
Back to the UK tomorrow. I’ve never had such dread about Britain. Coming back to London and knowing how unpleasant it’ll be. The demographic changes and feeling that 🇬🇧 is most against Brits. The lack of functional media. The feeling something big has to happen to restore order.

And thus ends one of the most damaging and self-indulgent experiments in British post-war political history. We’ll be living with its consequences for decades.
As I stand down as Leader, I also want to thank you for all the support you have given the party, and me personally, over the last four and a half years.

I don’t see how Gavin Williamson can honourably survive this morning’s @thetimes front page story of how he knew at least six weeks ago about the coming exam results debacle.

But the twin towers were attacked two years earlier. The US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania 3 years earlier than that. The jihadis involved with bin Laden were likely to blame Western inaction in Bosnia. Strangely none of this features here.
Sixteen years ago, I warned the invasion and occupation of Iraq would set off a spiral of conflict and hate that would fuel the wars, terrorism and misery of future generations.

The @thetimes story about Shamima Begum is a brilliant scoop. My very first reaction was punitive. My second was one of deep sadness. She was 15 when she was seduced into IS. At 19 she has seen two children die. She's British and we must try and rehabilitate her.

You’re going to leave London? Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Four more years of the divisive and hate-filled Sadiq Khan. London will continue its rapid decline. Many folk, including me, won’t be here by the next election. Why stay for no go zones, exploding crime, anarchists running riot on the streets, a war on cars and dying nightlight.

Listening now to the full account of the "openly Jewish" incident it is apparent that Gideon Falter was angling for an incident just like this. And an officer eventually provided it. Worth looking at the @CST_UK statement.

Anyone spotted @Nigel_Farage filming himself down by the thousand-lorry queue in Kent? Or, having trolled the hotels and beaches is he giving that one a miss?.

Listening to the excellent @tortoise podcast on the bizarre rise of Lord Lebedev and it honestly makes me want to hurl. The casual venality of parts of the establishment which culminated in Johnson making him part of our Parliament is appalling.

@nadhimzahawi @MayorofLondon Sure. I don’t think a day has gone by walking in central London in the last decade when I haven’t seen this. How did you miss it till now?.

This is a new one on me. You are now not permitted to criticise someone who is receiving medical treatment but who is still in post. At least, not if she’s an old mate of Len’s.
I’ve said it today at the Durham Miners Gala so I’ll repeat it here. Attacking a woman going through chemotherapy - @tom_watson you are a fucking disgrace. @JennieGenSec.

It is absurd that I have to congratulate my @thetimes colleague @iainmartin1’s piece on the obvious failure of Brexit as courageous. But it is.
