Today, a Peds resident remembered I wanted to do urology, let me see a unique patient with kidney issues, and then sincerely listened and discussed my assessment and plan.
I can’t wait to be the resident who validates a student’s ambitions.

The further I get away from Step 1, the less I’m convinced I actually took it. You learn so much info, to only have a small % of it come up in 280 questions has me wondering if I missed something. Was there a second day? A physical challenge? A blood oath I forgot to take?

Every single woman-identified medical student in my small groups talked about experiences with fertility-specific microaggressions from fellow healthcare professionals. Reproductive health incredibly important but *please* only when prompted.

Anytime I have a foley consult, I ask the patient if they’re from the Midwest.
If they say yes I tell them about how my friend who lived in MN called me on Match day to say “You’re gonna love it here, everyone’s nice & nobody swears.”
Every single patient has laughed at that.

For folks studying for Step 1, here’s a silly memory trick I use:
“Primary biliary cirrhosis” is 23 letters. Damages the intra-hepatic ducts.
“Primary sclerosing cholangitis” is 28 letters. It’s longer because it affects more (intra- and extra-hepatic ducts).
