The highest resolution level (MGT5) of the MGT was able to describe very fine scale epidemiology. STs at this level describe B. pertussis isolates that are isolated at almost the same time and place. 5/6

The B. pertussis MGT was also able to describe types that are deficient in the vaccine antigen pertactin. The causes of these deficiencies were also different between types. 4/6

We developed and applied a stable genomic nomenclature using multilevel genome typing (MGT) for Bordetella pertussis and were able to describe differences in MGT level 3 (MGT3) type between French and US isolates over time. 2/6
