Thrilled to announce that I'll be starting my journey towards my PhD in Clinical Psychology this fall at the
@JDPClinicalPsy
under the mentorship of Dr. Keith Horvath!
Very very excited to begin this next stage of my life and contribute to research surrounding LGBTQ+ health 🌈🏳️⚧️
I think little me would be proud knowing that, one day, I’d not only graduate from my dream school, but that I’d also be doing it as my authentic trans self 🏳️⚧️⚧️ happy

Just to remind everyone that I have the best boss/mentor ever 🥹 Thank you
@ericRpedersen
not only for the amazing gift but for helping me through every step of this paper :)
hi
#psychtwitter
!! I’m applying to a few clinical psychology PhD programs for Fall ‘24 and would greatly appreciate any faculty/program recommendations for a research focus on LGBTQ+ substance use (alcohol, cannabis, or other illicit substances) and/or LGBTQ+ health disparities!
Later this weekend, it'll be
#TDOV
#TransDayOfVisibility
. I'm so grateful to be trans and visible in the field that I love, and to be able to conduct research for other people like me! This TDOV, I'm so glad that I get to be a trans academic, and I know little me is proud too :)
just submitted my second first-author paper! So exciting :D keep your fingers crossed for me that I (1) dont get desk rejected and (2) don't get 4 reviewers like my first first-author LOL🤞
had such a great time at
#CPA2024
! So so fun to be with my friends and colleagues, and to meet so many great people! The addictions research community is so kind and I'm so glad to be part of it : )
Today is
#TransDayOfVisibility
🏳️⚧️⚧️ ! As a transgender person in research, I’m hoping to vouch for my community and push for more representation for transgender people in health research. We know that trans people face many health disparities but these are rarely studied. (1/2)
I am SO grateful to have been given the opportunity to present at the
@IASatUSC
Early Career Addiction Science Showcase today! Was a little nerve wracking to do my first real oral presentation in front of such amazing people but I’m so glad to share this work! :)
yay! first issue of Cannabis that I helped with as managing editor… could not have gotten this done without
@reaganfitzke
, who made the most helpful and in-depth managing editor SOP before she moved on from the position :’) looking forward to helping with more issues!!
New issue of Cannabis published today: Volume 6, No. 2.
Follow this thread for posts about the novel and innovative work featured in this latest issue. 1/13
Most of all, though, I'm so grateful that I am surrounded by such amazing and supportive people in this field, who make me even prouder of my transness. Chosen family definitely extends to academia, too :)
@Cassie_Boness
Yep! Especially for lgbtq—specifically transgender and gender diverse—individuals like myself, sometimes options can feel really limited. I absolutely cant go somewhere that would make it difficult for me to continue transitioning, even if a faculty member there is a perfect fit.

Hi there! I’m a post-bacc research assistant applying to clinical psych PhD programs this cycle. I’m a transgender POC hoping to do research on substance use and health disparities in the LGBTQ+ community. So important for LGBTQ+ researchers to do LGBTQ+ research :) 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
When these disparities ARE studied, it is not often you find actual trans people carrying out the research! We deserve representation as both the focus and the heads of research efforts! Would love to connect with more trans people in academia/research today! (2/2)
Thank you so so so much to my amazing co-authors, especially
@ericRpedersen
, who encouraged me to do this project and helped me through every step of it. So happy to finally share this with everyone!!
