- so much on Twitter about Academia is negative (and rightfully so)...but what do you enjoy about being in the Academy?
Here's mine: I love having the opportunity to wake up and study something I'm passionate about on a daily basis.

As some of you might remember, I was on the academic job market this past school year. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well as I hoped.
That being said, I received an 1-year extension of my postdoc at SDSU. It has been a wonderful academic home with great colleagues and students.

- do you need access to archival materials in or around Chicago?
I'm willing to serve as a research assistant, digitizing and organizing material on your behalf.
My article on the sanctuary movement in Chicago is out in the world!
Thanks again to
@MiddleWestRev
for the opportunity. This article would not have been possible without the invaluable feedback from

I just saw a historian on here tweet that no one reads dissertations.
Honestly, I don't think that's true as I see them cited all the time.

Big thanks go to the

I am moving back to California later this summer!
My partner received a job in the Bay Area so I'll be finishing up my dissertation while there.
Any possible academic connections, suggestions for housing, etc. are greatly appreciated.
***HUGE NEWS***
@LoyolaChicago
announced that beginning in Fall 2021, it will increase stipends for PhD students from $18,000 to $28,000 per year.
This wouldn't have happened without the work of the Loyola Graduate Workers' Union. Expect our statement soon.

I'm looking to organize a group of graduate student historians who study Mexico. If you're interested in joining, please let me know.
I just presented my work to non-historians and I absolutely loved the questions that I received. It's important to present in interdisciplinary and non-academic spaces.
In case you missed it:
About a year ago, I wrote this piece about dissertation resources relating to the field of History: grants, fellowships, and dissertation prizes.
If interested or relevant, be sure to take a look below.
