Equally, the UK has great strengths of its own in processing and recycling, as well as our own primary resources in lithium and tungsten, making it a strong trading partner.

As seen in our Industrial Strategy, UK industry can be a strong demand source for Canadian critical minerals, particularly for electric vehicle batteries and clean energy technologies.

I look forward to continuing our partnership for the security and benefit of both our economies. Québec has important critical mineral potential, with several active mines and advanced projects in minerals such as graphite, lithium and Rare Earth Elements.

Our new Critical Minerals Strategy prioritises international partnerships to build resilient, diverse and responsible supply chains, and our work with Québec forms an important part of this. The Statement of Intent is just the beginning.

I signed a Statement of Intent for UK-Québec collaboration on critical minerals, and discussed practical opportunities with Minister Christopher Skeete to strengthen supply chains.
