When @TheBuffaloNews says "experience" matters, it's making a statement that it will never, ever support anyone but a career politician. That's the message, that FBI raids, pay-to-play, and fiscal ineptitude are irrelevant to having squatted in an office for 16 years.

The @UBuffalo kid missed a 4.0 because of an A- in a law class despite 137/140=97.8%. Missed 3 classes so dropped half letter grade. If you're a prof and a student can get an A missing your lectures, docking them a half letter is more about you're feelings than their abilities.

Affordable housing development shouldn't be so hard to pull off in #Buffalo , the city owns 7,200 lots and under state law could sell for less than fair market value but they choose not to. $1 lots are subsidies developers need. Renter insecurity is a policy choice.

Construction value is not the measure of the success of a city or its mayor. Residents can't eat and drink new construction. They aren't educated by it. It doesn't lift them out of poverty. It doesn't put fluoride in the water or take lead out of it. And it doesn't pay the rent.

@AcademicsSay You forgot the office and staff to "administer" the grant and take a large chunk of the money, because you know, PIs can't handle a budget and the existing HR dept can't issue checks to three grad students. That's the biggest racket out there.

Fruit Belt example of what happens local govt is more concerned with making money at tax foreclosure auctions than using public-owned land for public benefit (see: housing, affordable). Sold for $3400 in 2004, owners made $0 investment. Profit over people

A letter of support for the trans community from @UB_President are just words from a script. They're not powerful or actionable. Again, it's just another higher ed president as starring actor in a DEIJ performance while doing the absolute bare minimum to affect real changes.

That will doesn't exist and never will. Hochul (like Cuomo et al) is a corporate welfare manager for the Dolan and Pegula class. The entire system, continually run by Dems to be clear, is more interested in neoliberal public-private bullshit than actual investment in public goods

NYS certainly has the capacity to make SUNY and CUNY the most affordable public higher ed systems in the US. All it takes is @GovKathyHochul @AndreaSCousins @CarlHeastie mustering the political will to fund their operations like the public goods they are.

So this new Buffalo Next propaganda effort...is this a paid advertisement, or just appears so on its face, like all of Epstein's work promoting rising housing prices as a great thing while it increases housing insecurity, segregation, and concentrates poverty? 1/4

Not sure if it's irony or apropos but POTUS speaking today in the same location today that 3 years ago I facilitated numerous 2-hour stakeholder mtgs to identify barriers to housing choice in Erie County for HUD Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice. 1/4

A reporter asked why ~70 yrs. of economic failure, segregation, poverty, population decline, etc. in Bflo/WNY has been irreversible. My response: 100% due to ineffective, visionless, self-serving, fragmented governance, both sides of the aisle. Hill I'll die on.

If only we treated politics, policy, and elected officials with the same level of analysis, maybe we'd have more educated voters and better outcomes. When will the @theBuffalonews do the same for Byron and his sycophants, bar exam flunkies, and unqualified hacks? Oh wait.

Finally reading this piece about Coach McD at lunch, while some things might be taken with a grain of salt, leadership is about taking responsibility for your organization’s failures, seems like McD has not. Quality leaders accept and own the problems.
