I've observed a concerning trend among some critics of traditional psychiatry: a belief that they've discovered the singular solution to mental health treatment, dismissing any differing perspectives as invalid. It's crucial that we shift away from this divisive mindset. Instead,

Today @EABCT in Belgrade, Anna Callahan presented this PPP project. It potentially highlights the silent suffering of many patients whose auditory hallucination features are routinely missed in clinical assessments, & so facilitates development of more specific CBT interventions.

The tragic and shocking June 2023 Notts case, @BBCPanorama tonight, bears out that the under assessment of the phenomenology prevents more tailored preventative care.

Lumping into the label "paranoid schizophrenia" tends to lose detail needed for personalised psychological management & treatment. More research needed otherwise this type of event will continue to be repeated - unless we just apply high sedation (effectively) and/or high walls!
The shocking Notts case & @BBCPanorama tonight underline again why a large slice of the huge pharma research funds needs reallocation to identify psychological causes, risk indicators, & effective treatments. But: @PsychosisPhenom will continue to address as others do @ReadReadj

Prevention is at the heart of EISP services and now also ARMS services. We have been centrally on this journey for ca 18years on UK. Have learnt much, more to learn. Patient experience needs to direct understanding of plight; multidisciplinary integrated care delivery essential.
The programme. Speakers chosen to encourage us to think out of the box. Food and networking spaces were good too. Big thanks to organisers Ryan Kemp (Director of Therapies) and his team for the work put in to provide this enriching day in Central London.

We hope our handbook will help to fill this existing gap for guidance on how to safely stop these medications and to distinguish between withdrawal effects and relapse.
@lizctucker @markhoro @joannamoncrieff @ReadReadj @GeorgiaEdeMD @RxISK @eturnermd1 @DrNancyOlivieri @DrDavidHealy @TranspariMED @PeterTodd_ People are begging for resources to help get off these medications. I just got two emails from people asking for help. This is timely and will share. It’s really sad that people and doctors were not told how to get off these meds. They were never designed to be taken for life.
