My first first-author preprint! 🎉 The use of many inner membrane probes can be more complicated in Gram-negatives, so here we show how to measure membrane depolarisation using the fluorescent dye DiSC3(5). Hopefully this can be helpful for both MoA and physiological studies 🦠🔬

As rapidly growing bacteria begin to exhaust nutrients, their growth rate slows, ultimately leading to the non-replicative state of quiescence. Adaptation to nutrient limitation requires widespread...

This has been an ongoing collaboration with Michaela Wenzel’s group since my PhD days so a huge thank you to everyone involved @Alansckoh @MicKasia @HenrikStrahl and hopefully this provides some cool results/techniques for upcoming AMR research! (3/3)

ii) daptomycin’s ability to cluster fluid lipid domains requires cell wall precursor lipids whilst membrane depolarisation does not, and iii) the Bacillus IM30 protein LiaH seems to play an intriguing role in clustering these daptomycin-cell wall precursor lipid complexes. (2/3)

So happy our pre-print on daptomycin mechanism of action is now out! Here, we present three main findings: i) daptomycin does not form large membrane pores in either B. subtilis or S. aureus, (1/3)
The last resort antibiotic daptomycin exhibits two independent antibacterial mechanisms of action https://t.co/vYYmHxj8mX

I love renting. Today a plumber came in to tell me my bedroom ceiling could fall down in a matter of days, and then just left 🙃🙃🙃

We know the England team losing the #EURO2024 is the worst outcome for some, for others however it's the reality of waiting for their partner to come home. Football doesn't cause #DomesticAbuse, abusers do. Share our helpline so women know they are not alone 👇🏼👇🏿
