Gotta wonder if monkeypox isn't taking advantage of covid-induced immune weakening of some kind to spread in a way it never could before when faced mostly with intact immune systems.

A thought for the COVID-cautious community. We're deep in this. We've our sources, our routines, our understanding. But what about the person who is just starting to question the narrative? They're seeing the disconnect: constantly getting sick, hearing about Long Covid, and

For those crowing about how Sweden did such a great job keeping their country open through the peak of the ongoing pandemic, note their population is now paying the price for repeated COVID infections with a 60x increase in memory problems.

Why does everyone force introverts to step out of their comfort zone and nobody forces extroverts to shut up for a little while?

@Demeter_Erinia The pro-extravert comments are really missing something important here.... When an extrovert is asked to shut up they are being stopped from doing something they want to do. But when an introvert is being told to join in they are being forced to do something that is way outside

Just had one of those days masking full time at the office. Masks are a good way to know who is, and isn't, a decent human.

Plenty of people are rigorously pro mask, but only until it impedes the growth of their platform...

I happened upon a tiktok live of Dr Melanie’s (laughter in light) last night where she addressed the maskless picture of her and Dr Rubin. She repeatedly called people “mask police” and told them to “stay mad” because she’s highly trained in risk assessment.

So much disinformation on this site tonight in the wake of the horrific Kirk murder, with conservatives cynically suggesting that all of the political violence in this country comes from the left. In fact it’s the opposite. Here are the facts for those with short memories: The

I spent years spouting conspiracy theories about vaccines. Now, as measles rages in my home of Alberta, I’m trying to convince vax-hesitant parents to inoculate their kids.

Key pandemic takeaways: COVID can cause lasting brain changes (e.g., cognitive deficits like 7-10 years of aging in mild cases, per Nature 2025). Prevention: Layer masks (N95+), ventilation, vaccines

I've found the best use is to get from a very rough draft to a more polished version. This has the added advantage that I actually write the piece as i want it, and AI just leaves me with an improved product, but still my own thoughts.

Every time I try to use AI it is so mind bogglingly stupid and bad. It can't even do the most basic tasks. I know it's amazing for some stuff, but the gap between the hype and the reality for so many AI products is wide

@WriteInSatan Lots and lots of people also died of measles. Those of you who survived had immunity and sustained herd immunity. Herd immunity will be reached one way or another: vaccination, or mass disease and death. Those are the only two options.
