I'am thrilled to share our latest paper, revealing how specific lipids play a critical role in the HIV neutralization process:

The γTuRC saga goes on! This time, we used cryoEM to describe how CDK5RAP2 helps nucleating microtubules by activating the γTuRC nucleator. Another tour de force led by @sernarina and Fabian Zimmermann and a fun collab with @LudersLab @IRBBarcelona. https://t.co/0fEKmBGzQd

Cryo-EM is a bit of an imaging miracle. We collect 2D images with stupid amounts of noise. We don’t know what we’re looking at, or from which way. Yet some how we can churn it over and get to see (actually see) how life works on molecular scales in 3D. How?

Man-made hinges date back to 1600 BC. ⭐️postdoc Benedikt Kuhn et al. now show that elevator-like #solutecarriers had them long before 🤩 to control conformational space + function! Great collab w Julian Langer lab and @seegerlab. Out in @NatureComms

Delighted to get this out!we describe bitopic binding mode to the dopamine 3 receptor, including a reorganization of TM1 that generates a unique site that could be exploited to develop selective molecules. Tremendous effort from @sandrarrour @angela31398

Cool! Congrats Misha and team!
We have a new paper for you: “Structure of tetrameric forms of the serotonin-gated 5-HT3A receptor ion channel”. Here we found that the prototypical pentameric ligand gated ion channel can form stable tetramers and characterized it with cryo-EM/ET and molecular simulations.
