One thousand people have followed me here in the last week. If you don’t know much about the swift brick campaign, I wrote a book about it called #NatureNeedsYou - The Fight To Save Our Swifts. It’s been a shocker of a ride so far but I will never give up. Why? I love birds.

πŸͺΆ It’s not just about ringing birds, it’s also about keeping habitats healthy and nest boxes safe. Yesterday we were across Staffordshire at our Peregrine sites, refreshing nest-box gravel and cleaning roof spaces to stop them nesting in unsuitable spots. πŸ’š

Halloween artificial cobweb material: It may be a bit of fake fun for you, but it's a very real and terrifying death for them. And it's not only birds. I've had my first call of the season of a hedgehog trapped in this horrific fake 'cobweb', made especially for gullible

Stonechats are on the move! πŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸ¦ This time of year they wander far from breeding grounds and might pop up anywhere. Keep an eye out for a black leg ring with white engraving, you might spot one of ours! πŸ‘€ #Birds #Stonechat #Wildlife

The highlight of a lovely morning at Swindon STW was this gorgeous Lesser Whitethroat. It is late in the year for them now so it may well be the last one of the year for us.

Ringing campaign in Los Palacios, Sevilla produced a total of 1053 birds from 39 species. Best recapture in my opinion a Sand Martin ringed in the UK or Ireland as a 1, recaptured again somewhere else in the UK or Ireland as 3 and recaptured back here this week. @_BTO #birds

This is the first dewpond that we created. It is still holding water despite the drought. Tonight there were 250 Linnets, 30 Corn Buntings and 30 Yellow Wagtails using it. Counts like these make it all worthwhileπŸ‘Œ.

Skylarks Pt 2, as part of the research and data collection, each bird has its own personal ring number, for identification, age, size , location, to help understand how best manage the habitat to help the number of nesting birds grow in the park @opwireland @phoenixparkOPW
