Double whammy! 🧬 Our latest collaboration with the Zaher/Beckmann/Inada labs reveals how Mbf1/EDF1 senses ribosome collisions to promote Gcn2 activation, allowing optimal induction of eIF2α phosphorylation and de-repression of GCN4 translation.

Check out our paper in this month's issue of RNA! We found that the translation elongation inhibitor emetine stabilizes hundreds of mRNAs many of which encode C2H2 zinc fingers!.

Excited to see our LARP1 manuscript published at The EMBO Journal. We show that LARP1 directly binds non-translating ribosomes and TOP mRNAs. An excellent collaboration with the @jingdongcheng lab!.

We’ve captured the splitting image of Slh1: our work on an enzyme that splits collided ribosomes in E. coli is out on bioRxiv! Huge thanks to the @BeckmannLab, Burroughs, and Aravind for a great collaboration.

ZAK triggers both cell survival and death pathways in response to ribotoxic stress. We investigated how the choice between these pathways is made and identified feedback mechanisms that regulate ZAK activity, determining whether a cell survives or dies.

We’re excited to share our study in @CellCellPress on the role of the MAP3 kinase ZAK in UV-induced apoptosis led by @2primehydroxyl! We studied cell signaling kinetics following UV-damage and found that ZAK drives apoptosis via ribosome collisions.

It’s official! MutS2 still doesn’t cut it. Congrats @Esth3rPark and @BeckmannLab!.
