Our latest story in @ScienceAdvances .✅We pinned down the mutation that gave us sweet white lupins .✅We recreated the sweetness in blue lupins using FIND-IT.✅We revised how bitter lupin alkaloids are made.🙏@VILLUMscience @novonordiskfond and +others!.
science.org
A single-nucleotide mutation enabled the modern domestication of white lupin by blocking the production of toxic alkaloids.

Y'all have heard of single-cell transcriptomics. But. single-cell METABOLOMICS?? No problem, say @ChenxinLi2, Lorenzo Caputi, @OConnor_lab, @TheBuellLab and colleagues. Impressive work!.

Today in Science: towards limonoid biosynthesis (e.g. azadirachtin). Full of juicy nuggets: methyl shift (+cyclopropane ring formation) by new enzymes, protective acetylation, Baeyer-Villager, and furan ring formation. Congrats @Sattely_lab, @AnneOsbourn1, and @HannahHodgson93!.
How do plants make complex triterpenoids?? In collaboration with @AnneOsborun1 lab, we discovered 22 enzymes for the biosynthesis of limonoids in Citrus and Melia. Published in @Science today! @StanfordEng @Stanford 1/4.

What a beauty! The 1st image by the Webb telescope peeking back in time to the earliest galaxies we have ever seen (the reddish distorted ones), enabled by gravitational lensing (general relativity) caused by a heavy cluster of stars that is actually in front of them (middle) 🤩.
👀 Sneak a peek at the deepest & sharpest infrared image of the early universe ever taken — all in a day’s work for the Webb telescope. (Literally, capturing it took less than a day!) This is Webb’s first image released as we begin to #UnfoldTheUniverse:
