Wonderful personal science story. More people should write them. Congrats Misha.
Take a look at my personal perspective on the past, present, and future of in situ structural biology with cryo-ET+. While initially skeptical about the genre, I found it fun to write and hopefully, you can enjoy my experiences and some thoughts. Nice WE!.

I stared off doing neuroscience and dwindled into the abyss of infection research. So happy that @MishaKudryashev took up the torch.
Our tetrameric forms of the serotonin receptor 5-HT3R made it to the cover of the @embojournal ! .Paper here: It's our first cover and the first one since my PhD. Freddy @FrischknechtLab shall be proud of me :).

New preprint with @SchwarzUlrich and @RippJohanna for @ParasitePhysics: Traction force generation in motile #malaria #parasites is modulated by the Plasmodium adhesin TLP. Sporozoite still running in circles, but in many colors. Red: strong force.

Looking forward to an exciting two weeks of infection conferences @embl in May. This one just following the classic BioMalPar. For people from far away, why not stay for both?.

After 4 years of revisions (ok, not exactly working 24/7 on it) @KehrerJessica and @_emma_pietsch_ got this manuscript to the next level. Using APEX-based proximity labelling in #malaria #parasites we found a new protein important for Plasmodium gamete egress+ookinete migration.
APEX-based proximity labeling in Plasmodium identifies a membrane protein with dual functions during mosquito infection. @FrischknechtLab.

Happy to see our first 'blendered' cover out @EmboMolMed featuring an 8 year journey towards a new type of attenuated #malaria #parasite: - just wondering what that ring is doing there.

Our September issue is online!.This month's cover highlights the article by J. M. Sattler, F. Frischknecht and colleagues @FrischknechtLab on vaccination against #malaria. Scientific illustration by Marco Binder @TheBinderLab. 🗞️

My 5 cents on #parasites translated from the original German by AI (making it a 'funny' read) as a short introductory text for non-experts:

Thanks, I like the red cell basketball.
Scientists are outsmarting malaria by training our immune system with weakened parasites, turning the tables on this deadly foe. @FrischknechtLab @AbdelrahimAiman @FHentzschel @LuisaZechel @CiidHeidelberg @EmboMolMed
