🇩🇰🇪🇺.During the Danish EU Presidency, officially opened today, the ERC will visit Copenhagen, where a high-level event on EU competitiveness will be held on 7 October, in the presence of research leaders including a Nobel laureate and political figures.

The July webinar will cover the latest updates, including information on funding opportunities, budget allocations, the application calendar, and eligibility conditions. Already familiar with ERC funding? Stay tuned for a more advanced session coming this September. .

The measure adds to existing obligations under EU law on public data access (as part of the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA)), and gives the research community a unique tool to help support safer, more transparent, and more accountable online environments.

By unlocking data from social media platforms, online marketplaces, adult sites & web browsers, the new rules give researchers more power to find & analyse risks found in the digital world. This marks a major step in independent scrutiny of how online services impact society.

New EU rules adopted today mean better access for qualified researchers to online data gathered by very large online platforms & search engines. This is important for investigations into systemic risks (e.g from illegal content/disinformation, or to children’s mental health).
