Reform the pubs code - give MRO on demand and open a Competition Inquiry into the wholesale beer market its only been 36 years since the last one! Both powers you have at your fingertips, minister @jreynoldsMP -@Sacha_Lord @CampaignforPubs @ThePubChampion #ukpubs
Our pubs, restaurants & live music venues are the beating heart of our cultural life, so it’s vital they’re given every chance to survive and thrive. That’s why new trial powers for London will back the capital’s pubs and clubs–boosting the nighttime economy and driving growth.

There is just one important piece of info in this article, and that is that the team are quitting a pubco-owned pub and looking for a freehold instead. If only @DailyMirror had delved into that, this article could have been so much more. @CampaignforPubs

Huge congratulations to Duncan & Grace & the wonderful #BaileyHead #pub in #Oswestry for winning CAMRA’s Pub of Year!🥳🍻 Very well deserved & a wonderful story of a pub saved & turned around having been run down & nearly closed under #pubco ownership. A now thriving #freehouse!
🥇 Congratulations to our Pub of the Year winner, the Bailey Head in Oswestry, which has been taken from a failing business under the ownership of a major pub company, to thriving community hub in under a decade. 📰 Read more here: https://t.co/0SSQFkOLDq 📷 Graham Mitchell

Big thanks to Julie Minns MP for raising the #PubsCode & the possibility of #guestbeer provisions. We’ve written to her about this & the need for reform of the unfair & anticompetitive tied model as operated by some pub owning companies. https://t.co/0tPWeBtNVk

Sorry Lucy, you were directly involved with destroying the intent of the #PubsCode. Unwittingly or not you colluded with the offshore #pubcos. Many tied #publicans will never forgive you, so please don’t pretend you are a friend of independent pubs. You chose #corporatism.
Off to my local pub after supporting our small shops again in Salisbury this morning on #SmallBusinessSaturday . #SMEs are essential to economic vibrancy. After the Budget hits we can see that it is @Conservatives who foster them best. @griffitha @JohnGlenUK @journalupdate

In Nov 2014 following 4 damning @CommonsBTC reports & years of campaigning by #publicans & @FairDeal4Locals campaigners, MPs voted for a genuine #MarketRentOnly option for #pubco tenants. This was never delivered 🤬 Please put this right @jreynoldsMP ⚖️ https://t.co/C6lffIjD2F

The Cameron coalition @GOVUK of 2010-2015 was defeated just seven times on whipped votes. #Pub campaigners packed the @HouseofCommons gallery to see this one. 💪 Enough MPs had seen the appalling treatment of tied pub tenants to rebel against the tory effort to scupper reform.

Not a political post - it is misleading, though, to pretend that anyone either side of the bar will benefit from this.
Please stop this dishonest nonsense @UKLabour. Today’s budget INCREASES PRICES IN #PUBS including the price of draught beer. NI rise & lower threshold, big wages increase, other duty up & current rates relief slashed. Bad for #publicans. Only great for giant brewers/producers!

We’ve been campaigning consistently for long overdue #businessrates reform & it’s a relief this has finally been announced (and MUST actually happen), but the cut in current relief from 75% to 40% will be disastrous for many #pubs & #publicans, alongside increased NI & wages.

#businessrates madness. Retail leisure and hospitality relief being slashed from 75% to 40% - this more than doubles bills overnight for hundreds of thousands of small high street businesses. How on earth does this deliver on the manifesto commitment to support these sectors?!

Employer NI up by 1.2 to 15%. Threshold cut from £9100 pa to £5000. That is a £25bn tax rise, proportionally hitting harder those employing lower paid workers. Probably three quarters or so of the increase will flow through to lower pay.

As a longstanding campaigner against the #PubCoRipOff that has seen too many valued community pubs closing down and demolished or repurposed. I am enthusiastic supporter of the #PledgeforPubs and the @CampaignforPubs
Point 4️⃣ of the #GE2024 #PledgeforPubs: Stop the #PubcoRipoff – introduce the genuine #MarketRentOnly option & restrict the tie to beer brewed by breweries who own pubs & only on their own beer. We still need a #FairDeal4YourLocal! #SaveOurPubs

A keg of Guinness is pricey. Diageo raised prices after its recent jump in popularity & we should now be charging £6.60 a pint. Murphy's is making a comeback in London pubs and we could bang that out for £5.80. We're tempted to change our house Irish stout. Should we?
