Rachel Reeves declared in the budget that the government is backing small retail and hospitality businesses. But the lower business rates level is more than wiped out by a huge increase in the assessed values of the properties, leaving owners facing “eye-watering” bill

Rather than looking at raising taxes on Independent Hospitality businesses, the Chancellor should take aim at the huge corporates. Starbucks last year didn't pay a penny in corporation tax. Support your local independent businesses.

Over the last decade, Greater Manchester has been the fastest growing city region in the whole of the UK. A blueprint for the rest of the country. The North/South divide is shrinking.
