Rachel Reeves declared in the budget that the government is backing small retail and hospitality businesses. But the lower business rates level is more than wiped out by a huge increase in the assessed values of the properties, leaving owners facing “eye-watering” bill

Front page and this injustice is escalating across all media. The Chancellors stealth tax could result in up to 30,000 Hospitality closures. The Gov’t urgently need to review Business Rates.

⚠️ WOW. High streets are being hit with a business rates bombshell. Chancellor has serious questions to answer: ❓How many businesses will pay rates for the first time? ❓How many will see bills go up? ❓Why isn’t she using the powers she gave herself to help high streets?

The Gov't must URGENTLY review the Budgets announcement on Business Rates. It's catastrophic for the economy. Will force closures, cost jobs, and crucify a sector that should be helping the economy grow and protect vital community spaces.

This is obviously unsustainable for any business. Hospitality in E Kent has also been hit with so much in the last few years, so desperately needed emergency reduction in BR/VAT (UK has by far the highest rate in Europe). Businesses are closing. Govt must listen to @Sacha_Lord
