Decriminalising abortion up to birth is the opposite of progressive.
📺GREAT SPEECH: “There is no popular demand… for this form of infanticide!” Baroness @MoncktonR describes clause 191 as “barbaric”, warning persuasively that it would create modern-day ‘backstreet abortions’, assist coerced abortions & remove protections for unborn babies.

ONS figures this morning show that growth continues to be weak and Rachel Reeves is now admitting she is going to hike taxes yet again, despite all her promises. If Labour had a plan – or a backbone – they would get spending under control, cut the deficit and get taxes down,

Today's unemployment figures are bad, but NB the total on all out-of-work benefits (including sickness benefit) is far worse and overtook Covid peak some time ago.

Unemployment up to 4.8% - driven by rising youth joblessness. Labour crashed confidence when they came in with no plan - and now Keir Starmer lacks the backbone to make the tough choices to fix it. More tax rises loom. More damage to come. Labour’s failure is not an accident -

An exciting win by #Gewan in the #Dewhurst top race for 2 yr olds. So well placed for the #2000Guineas Great for Andrew Balding & James Doyle. Gewan is by fashionable #NightofThunder @DarleyEurope himself out of my favourite sire #Dubawi and a mare by Galileo. @NewmarketRace

That is a huge swing in private school closures following the #VAT hit. Is it part of a Treasury pattern of underestimating dynamic damage as we saw on #NICs ? I suspect the £5 billion hit from the #EmploymentRights Bill forecast by DBT will also prove a gross underestimate.
When Labour announced VAT on private school fees, they promised it would raise £1.7 billion for state schools. With 25,000 pupils already forced out, eight times more than predicted, the policy is on track to cost taxpayers money rather than raise it. A thread🧵

A tragedy for #chemicals one of our most totemic and historic industries. Jim Ratcliffe’s words underline the madness of Government policies on energy and electricity pricing @INEOS @dominicoc @fletcherr
Which jobs crisis to worry about? AI may lead to job losses - but AI is also likely to lead to new, different jobs. There is a jobs crisis TODAY in the chemicals industry which is a vital part of every high value manufacturing supply chain. And they are not coming back! 👇

Yet more worrying economic news this time from a major survey by accountants. #Business #confidence has fallen to a three-year low. This marks five consecutive quarters of decline and the weakest sentiment since Q4 2022.

A future @Conservatives government will: CUT your taxes. ABOLISH Stamp Duty. ABOLISH Business Rates for pubs and shops on high streets. And deliver a big, bold offer for YOUNGER PEOPLE. All because of the decisions we have set out to live within our means.

Enjoyable @spectator panel deftly chaired by @JAHeale with @griffitha Revolut and @matthew_elliott on finance’s role in making Britain boom again. With growing international competition we agreed on the need for less regulation and more financial education #CPC25 @Conservatives

Very useful. A key issue facing music is the effect of #AI on #copyright. HMG does not seem able to grasp the significance of this - or its adverse effect on growth and competitiveness. It also puts jobs at risk in local venues, films and creative SMEs @UK_Music
All set for our panel at Conservative Party conference about why backing British music will kick start growth. Featuring @CommonsCMS Chair, Caroline Dinenage, @BPI_Music's Sophie Jones, @LNevilleRolfe, and Sparklestreet's Gary McClarnan #CPC25

As a London neighbour of the @I_W_M I am very disappointed.
The Imperial War Museum has decided to close the gallery that has the largest collection of Victoria Crosses in the world. It took 40 years for @LordAshcroft to build this collection of over 200 VCs and a smaller one of George Crosses. They are the highest gallantry awards that
