Empathising with your patient about their waiting time instead of making excuses for all the reasons why they exist will significantly improve their experience. Stress and burnout ultimately, decreases your capacity for empathy, so be mindful of this.

We did the STEPS course for our lovely Paediatric IMG’s. We were able to break down boundaries and explore the experiences of training abroad and in the UK and the impact on aspects of practice such as communication. Such an eyeopener, and a great learning experience for us all.
