By the way, an oculoplastics specialist does eyeball residency followed by 1-2 years of facial plastics. If an ophthalmologist examines your breasts, please call the police. I’m so glad she is documenting the absolute farce that is peer to peer review.
I’m sharing an actual recent peer-to-peer call that shows what physicians and patients face when trying to get a surgery approved. This call felt as absurd as it sounds. The peer-to-peer call was to advocate for surgery to prevent and treat lymphedema for a patient with breast

This is why every team needs a courtside ophthalmologist. Poked in the eye? Slap in some dilating drops during a timeout, turn off the arena lights, quick little indirect ophthalmoscopy, confirm the RD, off to hospital for surgery.
Dallas Mavericks All-Star Anthony Davis underwent a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the season, sources tell ESPN. Davis played through multiple hits to the face last year. He is expected to be healthy for next training camp.

There will be people who simply cannot obtain the funds to go to medical school, but I suspect demand will still be high enough to prevent med schools from having to lower tuition to compete. Med schools receive hundreds, if not thousands, of applications every year. This will.

Can’t speak for teeth, but 99% of eyeball disease is covered by medical insurance. Vision insurance is for glasses and contacts and we have it because this country likes to make acquiring disability accommodations as difficult as possible.

Greatly appreciate @EPotterMD for her healthcare advocacy. This kind of retaliation from insurance companies is sickening. They know our system is built on private insurance and wield that power accordingly. It also puts physicians in a tough spot. Do you say, “to hell with.
I’ve been keeping something from you. The way I cope with hard things is by doing the work and putting the pain in a box. But the truth is—since I spoke out against insurance companies, things have been really hard. My practice is struggling. I built a surgery center so I could

This is a great breakdown of how Oregon passed a first of its kind law limiting the corporate practice of medicine. @matthewstoller.

Oregon passes SB 951, a bill that prohibits private equity and corporate decision-making in health care. UnitedHealth Group, Amazon, and private equity lobbied fiercely, but lost. Is it a trend?
