Canada’s sons stormed the beaches of Normandy. Some didn’t come home. All were changed for the rest of their lives. Think on them and their sacrifices.

I'm very sad to learn that LCol Jeff Lyttle, Commander of Canadian Forces Base Shilo, MB - Homestation of the Royal Canadian Artillery - passed away last night due to cancer.
He was only 46 and is survived by his wife and four children.
End of mission. Good shooting.

Here's a heroic young artillery lieutenant of 13th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery who stormed the beaches of Normandy as a Command Post Officer in 22 Battery and was later wounded and evacuated. Oh, and he also starred in some movies and TV shows.

You may not know it from recent reports but a large number of strategic and operational level staff officers have worked some VERY long hours over the last several weeks to make this happen. Proud of my team. I’m going to miss them.
