Tonight's poll: are some teachers better than others? Don't overthink it. Don't ask me what I mean by "better" - I'm asking you. Think about what "good" looks like to you as a teacher, and answer "are some teachers more good than others?" Please share 🙏

As a parent - I see the upsides however we must not lose sight of why such things should be put in place, to support the most in need. This promo feels well wide of the mark.

What would you do with an extra 30 minutes in your day? 🤔 Free breakfast clubs are transforming mornings for 500,000 children - that's 95 precious hours back each year while children get a nutritious start to their day. Part of our Plan for Change ✨

@educationgovuk Absolutely appalling from a Dept that’s meant to be child focussed. “95 precious hours back”. No that’s “95 precious hours lost” for both child and parent

Much will be said and written about James Watson over the next few days and that’s fair enough. However I urge anybody interested in the groundbreaking scientific discovery he will forever be associated with to also look at the life and career of Rosalind Franklin.

In theory yes, multi-year pay plans are good. The problem? This one is not high enough and does not address years of teacher pay cuts.

A three-year teacher pay plan is good news for schools, and its predictability should be welcomed by leaders, says this former trust CEO https://t.co/DIno39VSi1

I’ve created over 25 ways to carry out retrieval practice in the classroom (do now type things). Since then I’ve created 50 retrieval questions for year 1-6 based on each year group’s NC. Could be a nice ‘copy and paste’ into your format thing. DM me if you fancy a link to them.

In my previous role as HOD, I was a huge believer in this. There is a reason TS has a foundation tier. If a pupil enjoys science they should be able to opt for this course even if they are working at grade 3/4. How this will be enforced however remains to be seen!

If there’s a desire to fix education the lion share of the money going into it should be directed to making the profession highly attractive, to fully funded pay rises, to tangible strategies to reduce workload. The strength in the sector are the people working within it.

The government believes schools can find savings through adjusting the make-up of leadership teams and deployment of support staff, as it prepares to leave them to foot the bill for future teacher pay rises https://t.co/enRJkKgcmm

I'm all for this. Fascinated to see if the content will be streamlined and how schools will be expected to account for this in their curriculum offer. Also issues with staffing that need addressing.

With news that the Curriculum Review may be requiring schools to offer triple science, here are the current arrangements from @TeacherTapp. Science timetabling is incredibly complex… https://t.co/ma1twcFDQF

Translation - we're limiting teacher pay increases to approximately+2.1% per year and we're not finding it. No better than the Tories! 😠
