If you told me 5yrs ago that young children were cycling along Jamaica Road to school, I would have said you were mad. I see children cycling and scooting to school all along the Cycleway4 daily now and full credit to those involved in this implementation 👏🏻
Women cycling aged 36 years old with whole life with family ahead of her. Mother of two children. Cycling on a recognised cycle route in London with a reduced speed limit of 20mph. Killed by a dangerous motorist who fled the scene. My heart breaks for her/her family 💚💛❤️💙
Bike security is a huge barrier to cycling. Outside Euston Station where there is a designated bike stand, multiple bikes/parts have been stolen. Even a child’s bike had its saddle taken. If cars were being stolen like this, there would be a huge clamp down to stop it…

Genuinely confused how you can’t manage to walk around the bike with the space either side of this moveable object, but can walk around the smaller space without issue beyond the bike with the black car front bumper taking up most the pavement space in pic 2?
@EveningStandard
Someone should have snitched on this maniac and then maybe my club mate might still be alive, his wife still has a husband and kids a father & his mate not needing round the clock care and treatment for life…But hey, cyclists get your house in order.
I would like to thank all the paid actors for coming out this morning to help us stage this critical mass. Thank you also for obeying the instructions to wait at the red light. Next time can we have more Lycra and hi viz.
Cycleway 4 has multiple floating bus stops. However since the introduction of the cycleway, there has been a dramatic increase in usage, esp with children - cycling and scooting as well as less able. I can’t imagine pushing them back into the road to mix with vehicles.
My wife returned to work last week following maternity leave and was so great to be able to drop the kids off at nursery/school on the bikes and then cycle into work together. Today feels like we are winning. Small gains.
If you cause a collision where you have seriously injured or killed someone and being prosecuted for the offence - your driving licence should automatically be suspended. It may take years before the case comes to court and no way should you be driving during that period.
Welcome to the Royal Borough of Greenwich car park - Shooters Hill Road. The was once a semi protected bicycle lane here. And no, there was no road closure, LTN, crash etc that caused this…
Why do cyclists ride “in the middle of the road” reason 482: rubbish road surfaces (ps cyclists report potholes for repair which helps motorists from vehicle damage).
There are so many different people who ride bikes. Some wear lycra, some causal clothes, some have ponchos. The fact is, everyone has a life outside of cycling, but all have a common objective of getting from A-B safely.
I never understand the “wait until the cold and the rain” comments. Even if someone changes habit (cycling, walking, public transport) for only one day of the year rather than unnecessarily driving, that should be applauded, not scrutinised because you’re not doing it 365.
Just got a reminder from
@DVLAgovuk
that my driving licence photocard is due to expire after 10years. Why am I not being required to take a retest or refresher at the same time…?!
A short story. Less than 3 months later it appears the 🔔 end who insists on parking here every day, putting child’s lives in danger mon-fri, has a court order against them and their car has been clamped. Time to seize that asset. To be continued…
We can make eScooters work. Yes, some are dangerous (speed), but if regulated and used properly, it’s can be a step in the right direction to reduce congestion in London and build a greener city. I don’t think a blanket ban is the right way to go IMHO.
Crooms Hill on the way home last night. At a stand still. Cause - motorists not giving way to each other and refusing to move over. Saw at least two cabbies in this jam. This used to be an LTN that allowed cabbies through and worked well…
Martyn Gall. Tuesday marked the 3 year anniversary since he went out for a Sunday morning bike ride with his wife & kids at home and never returned. A reminder that using your phone while driving can have catastrophic consequences and devastate families lives 💔
Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims – a poignant reminder that almost 4,000 lives are lost every single day on roads across globe and of the ripple effect of grief that extends through families and communities:

Driving and cycling in London is extremely difficult, especially when someone who appears to be turning right from a right turn only lane and then suddenly changes mind and switches lanes…
Apparently the several thousand cyclists uploading illegal driving are “grasses”, but the millions of motorists with dash cams aren’t spoken of in the same light. Makes sense…
In the last 3 years of available data, there have been 217 fatalities on Londons roads between 2020 - 2022 (Stats19).
Without attributing cause of collision, only two of these fatalities involved a pedal cycle, the majority of the others, motor vehicles. That’s less than 1%.
Dangerous cyclists who kill or seriously injure others should face the same penalties as other road users.
Today I have agreed a way forward to ensure the Criminal Justice Bill contains powers to hold irresponsible cyclists to account, paving the way for even safer streets.(1/4)
Given the tragic death of Hilda Griffiths resulting from a collision with a cyclist, it appears people believe the cyclist is responsible despite the facts. Are people now advocating for presumed liability along with parity with motorists. If so, I’m all for presumed liability…

It’s parked at the specific bike parking. There’s a boardman bike parked beyond it. Considering the layout here, the cargo bike is well set back from the entrance and not even the nearest rack to the entrance. Absolutely pathetic
Whilst there is obviously a lot of talk about cyclists in Regents Park. I’ll just remind people that there have been multiple collisions in the park by motorists causing life changing injuries to cyclists from poor driving and no prosecution for those behaviours…
Upsetting scenes in

Regents Park today. The aftermath of a cyclist in collision with a U Turning Trade vehicle. Their glasses broken in the road. This is why we fight for the removal of through traffic in our park. Thanks to the

I know it must be incredibly difficult cleaning up after the marathon but
@LondonMarathon
but the amount of discarded gels all over the road still is a joke. Greenwich and Southwark (Jamaica Road) particularly bad. Lewisham excellent and road cleaner there today.
Road violence is out of control. There are so many uninsured and untraced drivers for causing serious injury or death that there really needs to be a cultural shift in societies attitudes towards driving a vehicle and the dangers it can pose.
I’m not for second suggesting they are perfect but if people understood how they worked, stopped and gave way to pedestrians - they can work well. I like the raised hump before the start to slow you down and make you more aware.
Absolute pleasure meeting Mark on the CS4 tonight. He was stuck at home for a lot of Covid-19 due to his MND condition but he told me the new cycleway is a game changer to get out the house and to work. We chatted about developments in treatment for MND and my dad who had it.
The next time I read… “but motorists have VRNs and easily traceable”. The motor insurers bureau ends up dealing with thousands of seriously injury and death claims a year for collisions caused by drivers who go undetected - it’s a huge problem in the UK.
Can you help find the driver responsible for a hit and run in North Hyde Lane

at 12:25 on Friday 3 February, which tragically left a mother immobile and unable to fully care for her child.

I’m not for a second trying to suggest that there is a larger proportion of women cycling than what is traditionally known, but with the increased protection of the CW4 being put in place, I’m noticing more women cycling. Out of the 9 stopped here, 6 are women. It’s great to see.
Whilst reading/taking a photo for local community of a police incident board outside Queen Elizabeth hospital in Woolwich today, witnessed numerous impatient drivers driving dangerously on the wrong side of the road at a traffic calming measure.
I kindly told a motorist at the lights tonight that his lights weren’t on. Instead of thanking me he called me a prick and carried on driving without turning his lights on in stubbornness. Weird mentality, was just trying to help the dude.
@spitfire762
Please tell me why the cyclist is in the wrong here…
Not everyone is brave enough to take centre lane and endure the wrath of a frustrated motorist.
@bowie1973
They’re two abreast not three. People get held up by other road users all the time. There really isn’t such a need for such irrational hatred.
In this day and age were people like to moan, we should really take the time to praise people/companies when they do good. A huge thank you for
@use_exposure
for their amazing customer service and going over and above to fix my lights in quick time/little cost. Amazing 👏🏻
@HarryHamishGray
I really enjoy your tweets/content but I don’t think the car overlay works here in this scenario IMHO. It works better as just a cyclist. If this was a motorway and a vehicle was trying to get from middle to inside lane to turn off, I’d probably slow down and let it in.
@Councillorsuzie
Over here in Greenwich, the biggest cause of delays to London Fire Brigade call outs was traffic, not LTNs. What you going to do about excessive car use?
1. If you really want to read the data, it can be found here:
@One_Greenwich
has used the data for “Greenwich” and “East Greenwich”. Actually it’s not 128, it’s 142 between 25/08/2020 - 04/03/2022 - Hills and Vales LTN (I believe these are the dates).
I don’t normally post about people driving badly but the concerning thing about this person is she nearly ran a ped and cyclist over on pavement/ cycle lane while transporting children and driving whilst using her phone - she was so polite and apologetic too…
@LewishamCouncil
Would be great if a few bike shops or bike docking stations had a few of these within cities:
- rescue lights;
- tubes;
- repair kit;
- multitool;
- poncho
@tomsdinner
@JustStop_Oil
This really does highlight the arrogance of some motorists. There’s pedestrians along this pavement and they are forced to stand back against a wall, on a pavement while the self-entitled barge past them.
@Only9built
Would you really want to be overtaking a group of cyclists when approaching a junction here? If they were single file, it would take longer to overtake and therefore good positioning here by the cyclists to prevent a dangerous overtake happening. Ps big kiss 😘
Wear hi viz, don’t wear hi viz. I thought I had heard all the excuses to excuse poor driving. People will literally do mental gymnastics to excuse their own poor driving behaviour.
In court Christopher Morrison said he had not seen cyclist Robert Cowie — who died after being struck by the driver before falling into the path of another driver's vehicle — due to sun glare and suggested "maybe it was bouncing off his high-vis vest"
