Should be the most the first or second most used pitch. Elite level changeups are hard to throw but once you learn them they make hitters lives miserable. Problem is they are taught wrong so often so kids never get comfortable throwing them.

If the last 5 years of my life have taught me anything it’s that the biggest obstacle to getting kids on a path of skill & athletic development is their parents.
The hardest part of coaching youth travel ball is proving a different mission statement than the current system in place of heavy tournament focus year round. Parents need to start realizing that arm injuries in high school come about because of overuse in earlier years.

Banned pickoff moves for RHP on multiple teams in the past because yeah it usually doesn’t amount to much. So many throw aways paired with giving baserunners more information to go off of just leads to negatives a lot of the time.
The ROI on RHP pickoffs is almost certainly negative for ~99% of pitchers. Control the running game by: - Having three cadences to home plate - Being below 1.4s (ideally 1.35s) - Occasional long hold + step offs Reds MiLB went from 20th in wCS to 2nd in my time there by that.
