I wish more women would speak honestly about pregnancy, child birth, loss, marriage and its difficulties. It would help younger girls make more informed and better decisions
The generation of folks who graduated from Uni in the 70's and 80's; who never struggled to look for jobs because job offers were waiting for them; who found functional systems and Public Service Sector thriving; are the ones super loud about current Uni graduates being 'lazy'
People in corporate really live to create a false sense of urgency for everything. Relax Susan, nobody’s going to die bc a report delayed by one day 🤦🏾♀️
Capitalism has got you thinking folks are poor because 'they don't work hard enough'. Just look around you. The people who earn the least income are the ones who work the hardest and most difficult jobs
Life was much simpler back in the day when you’d stay up till 1am to watch TCM movies on NTV and you’d only worry was to keep the volume at 3 so you don’t wake the adults 😅
F*ck all Kenyan politicians who were issuing press statements all over during George Floyd but have suddenly lost their voice as Police MURDER young men for merely existing!
Turns out if you store fresh tomatoes in the same bowl with lemons, they can go for weeks without spoiling or developing those black spots. Tried and tested it
Please encourage some of the young ones who just cleared high school to venture into Technical and Vocational courses. There’s huge demand for the skilled trades and they can easily become financially independent in a few years with the right kind of support and training
I get sickened by people who retort with “just go to a private institution” whenever citizens complain about poor service provision and dilapidated facilities in the public sector. There’s a reason why we pay taxes. Citizens are entitled to quality & affordable public services
Wishing everyone who’s resuming work tomorrow a great start to the year . May your toil never be in vain. May what you seek and work towards find you with considerable ease. May the Light guide and protect you always ❤️
I hope the next Governor of Nairobi focuses on the basics; Waste Management , Water Supply and Development Control. That city is really subpar in terms of waste management. Filthy compared to other African cities
I really hate how your fave Health CS keeps lecturing and shifting blame on the Kenyan youth for the spread of Covid-19 as if his docket didn't loot funds in the midst of a pandemic; as if he is not the one responsible for advisory on reopening of schools etc. Can't stand him
Nobody prepares you for the intensity with which Friendship breakups destroy your heart and soul in ways that you can’t even imagine. But just as with everything in life, letting go allows for growth and rejuvenation. Release that which does not work 💜
Landlords and Developers in Nairobi need to let go of the combined toilet & bathroom plans in Apartments.
Defund that entire concept. It doesn’t even save that much on space
Girlies, learn to “Wah, sa utado?” men more often. It will save you from doing uncompensated emotional and phsical labour. Don’t carry baggage that isn’t meant to be yours.
You will never get caught up in corporate drama and stress once you dissociate your identity and build your own interests outside of your careers. Remember you are an individual before your job. Your job is just a means to eke a living. Always remember that
Really love the “I got the job” “Starting on a new role/jobs” tweets that have been outpouring in November. May this abundance spread into all our lives
From IG stories , Nairobi peeps are still going to clubs and restaurants for dinner/ cocktails as if the Corona virus is joke. People's selfishness will really kill us all 😭
Longevity means nothing if it is unhealthy and brings you grief. It's ok to let go of that thing, be it a friendship, relationship, marriage etc. Just because you've had it for so long does not mean you will not live without it. Let it go
Friendships and relationships should not induce anxiety and put you in a constant state of panic . I’ve learnt to let go whenever I feel as if I have to constantly explain myself to people
I really love stories about people switching careers; starting school or pursuing their creative talents way at advanced ages in life! Most of us were conditioned into thinking we have to achieve things at a younger age. It's never too late to follow our dreams
Kenyans, next year when incumbent MCAs , MPs, Senators , Governors etc .. come to politic and ask for your vote, remember to ask them what they did to cushion you and ensure your safety during the Covid pandemic
Start over. Re-invent yourself. As many times and as often as you need to. Life is for the living. You deserve a life that you are proud and content to live in.
For those courageous enough to sire children, always pray that you’re preserved long enough to raise them yourself. There’s no one who will love and raise your children the way you would
So happy for all the people whose dreams have come true. So many people on the TL starting new jobs, buying new apartments, moving out of home, getting promotions etc
May our prayers be answered 🙏🏾
For those who struggle with setting and enforcing personal boundaries, I've found that asking yourself if the other party would have extended you the same level of grace were you in the same position really helps provide clarity.
It's the "Urban Heat Island Effect" caused by all the construction developments + buildings/ glazed skyscrapers without incorporating sustainable solutions for the heat to be absorbed. This is due to the reduction in vegetation/green spaces + exposed ground surfaces.
Alot of 'conservation' in Africa is ecofascist. The whole model is centered around pushing indigenous communities out of their land/livelihoods in the guise of 'protecting the wildlife'
I hate how this country maltreats people in poorer neighborhoods when it comes to infrastructure. Don’t poor people deserve good drainage, roads, sewers and proper waste disposal ?
Genuine question to African Christians:
Why do you still practice Christianity despite knowing it’s terrible anti-black and racist history , as well as all the torture , evil and harm our ancestors underwent during colonialism? How do you make peace with this?
Balconies are not designed for a hangin laundry and storage of water tanks 😅
Nairobians have gotten used to this because no one at the City Council is doing their job in effecting Physical Planning laws and building codes.
Persons who insist on referring to themselves with a title...."I am Eng....I am advocate....I am Doctor so and so"
🚩🚩🚩🚩
Kwanza Engineer na uligraduate juzi ...sit down! Acha Nairobi ikupange kwanza.
Travel will open up your eyes to the economic disparity and the extreme levels of poverty in this country. You leave a resort & right outside will be folks living in shacks, barely ends meet. Sucks that some of us in this life will be privileged while others will remain poor :(
Pretty sure the civil works departments at KAA already has status reports on all airports across the country. Why is it necessary to form extra committee with all those members for this?
Always advocate for yourself. When things no longer serve you, let them go. Learn that it's ok to say No and to always exit from harmful environments. Unlearn bad habits. At the end of the day, your life is your own. It is your sole responsibility to create a life you love
Be careful and discerning when asking for advice on life decisions as sometimes people may unknowingly project their fears and limiting beliefs onto you. Absorb the necessary and filter out the rest. At core, you already know what's best for you. Trust yourself a bit more
Everyone deserves to be paid well and fairly for their work. No work is better than the other. We all fill a certain gap and should be fairly compensated for our efforts
Governors and all county officials should be mandated to live within their county governments. I feel that’s the only way they’ll get serious about developing infrastructure, education, health and all aspects of the economy within their respective counties
