Tying nutjob humanists to my school reputationally has proven to be a disaster. He’s going to literally cost lives via cuts to medical and physics research. So many people even I criticized for speaking out have been vindicated.

It’s actually insane how little humanities PhD students work. They need to be teaching more than one class in their time here, man. Humanities research really doesn’t take that much time considering how long the PhDs last; I’ve seen humanities PhD students and all they do is hang.
@mean_field_zane @drdsdd68882053 Uhhhhhhh idk the average Humanities area studies PhD student owes 3 TAships and 1 course instructor of record over their PhD. Yea, it’s fewer “teaching opportunities” than other places, but they are certainly still relied on by the faculty for CIV classes!.

Honestly, re-reading many of the academic interest areas of the professors most affected by the current cuts to humanities at my school, I feel way less bad. Personally I think we need a five year long pause on post colonial studies. Critical theory and post-Lacan schizotheory.
