‘sharq-zada’: Struck by the East. Rumi translator & Sufi teacher. My Rumi circle + Persian dinner in Manhattan: https://t.co/wz7aMUAodA

The villages are for 20-something and early-30s White corporate types to hang out; this is why they're not real neighborhoods, in the way that West Harlem or Washington Heights are. They're not much different than the historic cores of European cities Americans soyjack over.
@sharghzadeh Another observation I have seen about East Village / West Village (Manhattan core night life areas), it’s one demographic only. Where are all the old people hanging out, where are all the families or the young kids running around and causing havoc. Manhattan is an economic zone,.

The cope in this is hilarious:. It's Fidi! (No, it's not). It's Midtown! (No it's not!). It's Tribeca, but in any case, the point is true:.Manhattan is half-empty come nighttime. Sure, from West to East village is busy at night, so 2-3 neighborhoods in all of Manhattan. great.
I find it hilarious when Americans think NYC is busy. The boroughs are suburbia density and even Manhattan is half empty come night time.

We can tell which is a Republican home and which is Democratic. Is this a peculiarity of American life because our housing stock is new?. Are other countries like this? Iran is not.
GARAGE with a house.Vs.HOUSE with a garage . Living spaces should be where the money is spent, not where the cars are stored.

We are entering a new phase in humanity, one where every place is diverse. This was inevitable. Even rural American towns are increasingly populated by enterprising migrants who find large cities oversaturated. The global south has more people than it can take care of, and.
BREAKING:. At the TICAD 9 meeting, Japan created a special visa program to settle African migrants in Japan. 4 Japanese cities were designated as “hometowns” for migrants from Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, and Mozambique. - Nigerians will be settled in Kisarazu.- Tanzanians in

This is such a condemnation of the state of NYC.
@PaulSkallas chelsea is dead, flatiron is a ghost town, upper east and west are silent, only the villages have life (but not past 11).

Every single one of my contacts is [Name] [Job] [City]. It's basically how Persians have always named people. Iran is full of people named 'Ali Rugseller-Tehrani' and 'Husayn Smith-Shirazi.'.
Naming people by what they do (or where they're from) is pretty lindy. It's just natural. Even today, without the tradition we save names of people in our phones by their occupation. You rarely put in their last name of someone. It's Pete Plumber, John Electrician, Gary New York,.

I was just back in NYC three weeks ago and I was shocked 1) how easy it was to drive everywhere, and 2) how quiet it was at night. Avoid Times Square and Manhattan's just like. a not dense city, or at least not a city where people live.

Buy an old building in Harlem or downtown. Ideally, a gut renovation townhouse or apartment-over-commercial, and convert it into a Persianate Sufi cultural center. If it had a commercial first floor, we would have a cafe. If it were a townhouse, the first unit would be a.
What would you buy if you have 20 million dollars spare?. Dont say cars.Dont say a house.Dont say "some land to grow vegetables". Give me cool unique answer.

Driving in NYC is comically easy outside of busy hours. Coming from Tehran and Istanbul, I found it amazing how you can just speed up and down Manhattan is if we are living in a small town, not America's largest city.
@sharghzadeh 6th Avenue is often completely empty by 8 PM… two blocks east from Times Square and cross streets are deserted. It’s wild.
