Excited to share our first preprint with @zauggj @embl! We screened 1,296 transcription factors for repressors that block unwanted plasticity and found many putative tumour suppressors. PROX1 stands out as hepatocyte safeguard that prevents #livercancer.

We show: .-HBV1.3 transgenic mice develop HCC in the absence of inflammation. - HBVxfs mice, expressing all HBV proteins but a truncated HBx, display significantly reduced HCC incidence. - Hepatocyte-specific STAT3-knockout abrogates HCC.development.

A great team of people at the DKFZ, University Clinics Tübingen, University Tübingen, University Heidelberg, Monash University and King´s colleague helped us on the way supported us - a team effort - with clincial implications - that we follow up. Thank you to all collaborators.
Fatty liver disease often leads to chronic liver inflammation and can even result in liver #cancer. Scientists from DKFZ and @uni_tue have now shown that intermittent fasting can halt this development. @CancerInflam @Cell_Metabolism .➡️
