CHARM, @GMMHUnison and Unite(GMMH) wrote to @NHS_GM and @MayorofGM regarding our concerns GM may adopt Palantir - a spy tech firm for data services. Palantir supplies Israel with racist “predictive policing” tech. #nhsnotforsale SIGN AND SHARE https://t.co/2EEXoJMsTo

65M Americans take psychiatric drugs. 1 in 4 adults. Nearly 1 in 10 kids. Millions are medicated, numbed, and stuck with no safe way out. If this affects you—or someone you love—this thread matters 🧵

Blog by @MaryanneDemasi '73% of drugs approved by the FDA.. failed to meet all four basic criteria for demonstrating “substantial evidence” of effectiveness.' 'FDA’s threshold for evidence “can’t go any lower because it’s already in the dirt.”'

Just ridiculous how big pharma manipulates data, refusing to recognise the devastating consequences for people’s lives

Just to summarise. The JAMA review concluded that there was no significant withdrawal based on its main analysis (figure 2) of 11 studies, 10 of which involved people who took antidepressants for 8-12 weeks before stopping. (1/n)

Study: a ketogenic diet significantly increases blood flow to the brain in comparison to a standard diet. Most low carbers know how this feels. It's the proverbial mental clarity that many say has cured their depression and even drastically improved schizophrenia in others.

The findings point to a growing cultural tendency to interpret common emotional experiences through the lens of pathology, potentially shaping how people understand themselves, seek help, and relate to one another. https://t.co/wav7LeBXWo

Czech media increasingly frames ordinary emotions like sadness and shyness in psychiatric language, raising concerns about cultural psychiatrization.

Late last year, Tony Warne - the chair of Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust - put out a blog post in which he compared three patients he encountered to crows. The backlash was just an indication of a broader strife that had been building at the Trust.

Cuts “are not human rights compliant. They are being rushed through without proper scrutiny, transparency or engagement with those who stand to lose the most. We urge MPs to stand firm against a Bill that continues to discriminate, harm, and marginalise.” https://t.co/VaUFJMly4j

Yeh, it's the brain's fault. Totally. The nice drug is doing its nice helpful things and then the horrible brain comes along and ruins everything with homeostasis, tolerance and withdrawal. Just leave the nice drug alone! We have arrived at post-truth psychiatry.

Medications are often blamed when tolerance or side effects emerge. But the issue may be the brain’s natural effort to balance itself in the presence of a persistent external input. 🧵12/15

Older adults are often prescribed antipsychotics off-label for behavioral control in the hospital. But there’s no evidence for antipsychotics helping, and a great deal of evidence of harm. By Peter Simons https://t.co/IKOIqpThS0

We’re determined to stop these cuts to #PIP and Universal Credit disability, which will hit women hard: especially women with mental distress, disabled single mothers, and family carers whose meagre Carers Allowance is tied to PIP. #WelfareNotWarfare #TakingThePIP #TaxTheRich

We are in the midst of an epidemic. We have haphazardly put so many people on antidepressants and have no idea how to safely get them off. The standard medical protocols for discontinuation are not just inadequate—they're dangerous, often triggering severe withdrawal reactions
